i got my gt when i was 18. at the time i absolutely loved it, it was faster than all of my friends cars. but 3 years later and with almost nothing as far as performance parts its just way too slow. i think a 98-02 gt is a great first(or in my case second) car for a beginning driver. the kid will like that it beats all his friends hondas and you will like that it is a safe, reliable car. and when he gets older there is a huge aftermarket so either he or the both of you can build it to be as fast as you want it.
