what does this code mean



P0440 is an evap system leak. Could be purge valve, charcoal canister vent, or even a loose fuel cap. The P0502 is probably a bad vehicle speed sensor on the trans. Does the speedometer work?
 


Yes speedometer works. I ran car very low on gas one day, then it started to bog down when I would try to gain speed. Would hav to gain speed slowly. Then changed the fuel filter. I had gained back my pick up an go. But after a week, sign of prior problems started up again. But with one extra problem, hard starting. So why would/could this happen.
 
It has the 2.2 right? That motor isn't a great one but i wish you luck with your car and hope you get it fixed. A guy i work with just blew up his sunfire 2.2 with 140,000 on it.
 
It is the 2.2 and I hav put almost 90,000 on it in a year. Total is 200,362. But the question is if I have a leak in my power steering line can this be the cause cause of my possbile vacuum leak
 


Power steering won't cause a vacuum leak. You will have to look around the motor to find the vacuum leak.
