What does the information center, cd player, and the heater controlls have in common

My batterys been draining the last few day over night so i did some snooping around under the hood checking the wire's

I found that right behing the battery there was a plug and two wires that ran from the plug into the wire harness the colors of the wires were yellow and yellow with a black line or greenish hard to tell it was dark out but the two wires were broked (car ran fine without them no check engine code at all) so i connected the wires and nothing happened no sparks and exc. taped them up and off i went.

So now about 1hr later me, my girl, and my son are in my car going to a mall thats about 45min's away and 30mins into the drive i smell smoke (electrical smoke-ish smell) but i rushed off the highway and looked under the hood nothing was wrong no fire thank god. Had a pair of plyers so i took out the battery and the wires that i fixed looked fine not burnt up where i taped them at least.

So i started up the car and it ran fine except the information center, cd player, and heater (the heater buttons lit up but no display) did not work at all. So i drove the car to my parents where i got my camaro out of the grage and droped the car off at the mechanic because im sick of dealing with the problem.

So does any one have a clue what all 3 have in common a relay a curcit or anything? Just trying to get clues to help out my mechanic.
With electrical problems he charges by the hr...
