What does it mean when the RPM reading on the cluster drops to 0000

All i know lately while the car is running and i am driving the RPM gauge will shoot down to zero and stay there no matter how much you rev the engine.Doesnt appear to effect the way the car runs.If you cut the car off and cut back on the gauge is back to normal.It seems to be doing this more often now.Already had issues with the fuel level gauge not working properly.Wonder if the cluster is going bad.
 


Your Crankshaft Position Sensor (CKP) is going out. Soon, your car will stall while driving, and will be a pain in the ass to start.
 
Yessir. You may also get away with just cleaning the magnets on the sensor, but if you're going through all the trouble to remove it, you might as well replace it.
