Hello all,
Ok, I've traded my DD 00 GT in a couple years ago on a 09 G8 GT. The G8 is definitely a garage queen with only 4500 miles on it so far. I've gotten the itch to get another Grand Prix and always loved the 97-03 body styling. I've had some luck with cars.com locating a few with less than 50,000 miles and similarly equipped to the one i traded in.

I just found an 01 GT with 48,000 miles, one owner, clean carfax. It has leather, HUD, sunroof and the polished torque star wheels. The dealer states the body is clean and rust free. They are asking $8000. They say this is an "internet" price with very little negotiating room.

Anything on the 01's that I should look out for? What do you think of the price?

I've seen similar vehicles....year and mileage, going for around $7000 by private owners. I'm thinking i can get the dealer down to at least $7500.
 
walk in a throw up 6 and say your not going any other, if they dont take it, leave your # and wait for them to call you in a week
 


2 years ago I bought my fully loaded 05 impala LS for 6.4k, taxes in, from a small dealership also. I think 6K for a 01 is way too overpriced. i see nice GTP's GO FOR 4K
 
whether or not its over priced or not(which it is)
the dealer is asking 8k for it, so your not gonna work them down to what it should go for
the most you might be able to get it to would be like 5k but not in a day, and i think thats still over priced

If its as clean as the dealer says it is. I'm gonna offer something (haven't decided on how much yet)...and leave to take a look at a few other cars in his area....let him think a little on how bad he wants to sell. I'm thinking if he really wants the sale....he will not let me leave.
 


Gotta continue the search. Dealer didn't wanna budge on the $8000 and car wasn't as clean as he had stated. Rusty rockers and about a dozen small dings. Going to be hard to find a really clean, rust free 00-03 up here in Ohio.
 
I was going to say, being that old, with little miles on it, I would have been looking at the Intake and gaskets, looking for the updated parts..

But, since that one fell through..never mind..lol
 
Thanks for the heads up. I did look at the coolant elbows for leaks....forgot to look at the intake after seeing the rusted rockers.
 


i agree w/ Odi. 6k is alot especially for a GT thats almost 12 years old. maybe if it was SC i would consider.......Maybe.

And by the way My 02 GTP has 166k miles and still rolling. bought it new in 02 and i would give up the wife before my Bronze Beast. Been thru the tranny problems, rack and pinion, powersteering pump, starter, alternator struts/suspension, etc. the only thing thats original is the seats. but thats my baby....... oh ****, back to the subject.... 6k is too damn much for a 01 N/A (GT)
 
I would love to find a GTP. After driving the G8, everything else is slooooow. Looking at an 06 now with 59000 for $10000. Leather and se front and rear. Listed as a GT but no GT badges in the pics. Anything to look for in this generation of prixs? Thanks!
