What Do Ya Think It Will Run (Not My Car)

A friend of mine (TubbedGTP) here on the forums that some of you may remember. Just got finished putting together a Eclipse for a local guy around here. Cammed, ported head, larger turbo, intercooler, and some other junk. Supposedly suppose to be 500 horses or something. However it's only FWD, not AWD.

i wouldnt put it out of the 12s if the driver knows what they are doing..

AWD would have helped the situation.

The car also was stroked over from a 2.0L to a 2.3L with Eagle forged rotating assembly. The was not finished in those pics yet.

It is hard to believe you can get that many horses out of such a small motor, but I've seen them with over a 1000 HP.

Stand alone Intercooler... Not a bad way to spend 10 grand...

Lol, in all reality, that intercooler looks big enough to support 600-800hp but hard to guess since the front end on those cars are so small. I wouldn't push it past him that he makes 500hp with that setup, but it's going to be difficult putting that power to the ground.

Probably 11.5s in true race form/prepped and above that if he doesn't get it to hook.

o they can make power. the dsm guys dont have a problem with that. IF he could put the power to the ground its deff capable of 10's. but that would be with a willie bar pressing down so hard in the back it lifts the back tires and puts all the weight on the front tires :) other than that i give it high 11's. mid 14's at 130mph if they have no idea what there doing :)

speaking from experience... Ran mid 12's all day long with only intake, exhaust, downpipe, clutch, flywheel, and MBC. It was AWD as well though.

He can convert his car to awd if he wants... it's now a second tier swap to the DSM guys. So many Spyder AWDs now....

well the tsi or tsi awd or the gtp was my two choices that i made but i chose the gtp over the talon, i think i made a good choice, But i still like them, i didnt really wan't a gs-t or gsx cause they r way too common around here and talon's arn't.

I guess about 4-5 years ago this swap wasn't that common. Mostly because the cars were adding seconds in the 1/4 mile. I haven't really kept up in the past 2 years with the DSMs but I know the community.... and I'm sure they have engineered it to crush the 2.0L.

Is it 2.3L or 2.37L???

He stroked it, huh? Lighter crank. Most guys were getting the 4g64 blocks with a nive heavy crank out of the old Hyundai Elantras. Some were even getting them out of the 3g eclipses... only issue was no oil squirters. I wonder if they fixed that issue somehow too.

I miss the DSMs...

Also what turbo setup is he running? I don't think he is making 500hp (pending turbo setup), but he is def around or above the 400hp range just from looking at it. The forged light crank would more than make up for a lesser setup though. This car, even with FWD, would probably rip other DSMs with higher horsepower ratings that have the 2.0L and stock crank, or 2.4L with the older 4g64 version.
