what do i need to replace



I'd replace the solenoids, clutches, get a hardened 4th clutch shaft, hardened pump shaft, upgraded input shaft to the level you need, shift kit, and gears with a single chain. Check the diff and replace it too if need be.
 
what is the cost of all the stuff? this will be my first time doing this. could i get away with just putting the clutches in and the solenoids?
 
Well what you ''could get away with'' would more than likley depend on what is messed up or worn out in it right now.

I would do it right and do a full rebuild on it to save you time and money on it in the future.
 


There is really no set list of what you will need but there is a lot of parts that should be or is recommened to replace during a rebuild. You arent going to know exactly what parts to get until the trans is apart. Is your car stock or is it modified and if so what is done to it? How far do you plan to take it?
