What Do I Look For?

The hubby is gonna go look at a 3800SC that a guy has for sale for $100. We kinda know him. He had a gf with an Impala and she blew up her engine. He bought her this at a salvage. Car got repo'ed, she went to prison, they aren't together. He just wants this motor out of garage and out of his way.
Where does a person look to see what year car it came out of? Or any other things to look for. ?? Thanks!

I dont know about the year it came out of but check the oil if there is any
spin the crank make sure it rotates freely
Id say compression check but since its not in the car thats harder
check plugs make sure none are burnt up or crushed
spin the supercharger to hear any grinding or feel for any play
