• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

What did you do to your Car today?

They don't generally break but it does happen and its the leading cause of impact failures. (Valves) I've seen it plenty of times. Now timing chains, never seen one break yet (does happen) but on the ford 4.0's I've seen them rattle like crazy well before 100k

The leading cause to a timing belt car jumping time is lack of maintenance (not changing the parts on schedule) or even worse using cheap knock off parts that fail prematurely. You probably have a better chance of getting hit by a train than having a timing belt actually break.

I didn't realize 50 would still look so dark, so thanks for the pictures.
Just a brow it is.

The place I used to work had a F150 show truck that at one point had 50% windshield tint. The were actually driving it back from a show late one night on a desolate highway that had just been repaved and didn't have the lines repainted yet. It was pitch black with no moon and they said they literally could not tell if they were even on the road. They pulled over and ripped the tint off just so they could see to get home.

As much as getting blinded by oncoming lights can suck, tinting the windshield sucks more. You can always wear sunglasses at night.

Brows dont go far enough down for me unless I do it stupid low. I'm short. Hopefully i can find a happy medium in length for the impala.

Changed the oil in the GTP. It's been running good all week. I put over 300 miles on this car and it ran great. I go to drive it today and I have a problem.

While cruising around at 1500 rpms, and then coming to a stop the RPMs stay at 1500 and don't go back down. Then when I put the car in park or neutral the RPMS shoot up to the rev limiter. Restarting the car fixes the problem. Any ideas? No codes or anything while this is happening.

I checked the TPS % and at a stop with the rpms turning over at 1500 it reads 0%. While in park or Neutral while it's bouncing off the rev limiter the TPS reads 0%. As soon as I put my foot in the pedal it gives the correct reading.

For some reason I am suspecting a faulty TPS or maybe IAC? But both of those are new... that's not to say the new parts are bad.

Something is letting air in the intake then. There's no way a tps can cause it, to hit the rev limiter in park on mine I need like at least 5 to 8% tps which means it takes a bit of air to enter the intake to run that high. Something is letting air in, IAC is the most likely behind a vacuum leak. Then maybe a suck/misaligned throttle. But it stops when restarted so it really only points to the IAC. Or worst case the PCM.
I've left the IAC unplugged one time and I noticed the rpms going higher and higher until it was at 3 grand, then shut it off.

I tested the TPS with the multimeter and I couldnt get any reading from it. I did get the correct voltage from the PMC to the TPS.

This happened three times today. Come to a stop put in park idle revs up shut off car restart good to go til the next stop.

I will replace both sensors since they have a 1 year warranty.

I had the tb off last fall and cleaned up the throttle really nice. All that looks great.

Anyone wanna see what my coolant res looks like?

I bet you do, I make a good idiot on why not to do things certain ways. To be fair I did the dex/green mishap before I knew about how bad it was.

Was it from an auto parts store? I go to the advance auto at 31 and van dyke up there, there might be a closer one to you though. Delphi iac's are fairly inexpensive on rockauto

And Russ...ew lol. Our impala's was worse though. Like half and half, it was all brown. The smell was pretty horrible too. Planning on a second flush today with a cleaner.

Well it seems pretty unanimous on the IAC, might as well warranty it and see. I've never used autozone's iac's for our cars before. I think I've used one on a Sebring and it was fine

tinting the whole front windshield is nothing short of dumb. you cant see very well at night.

I can see just fine at night still. Anywhere I would need to drive is well lit from street lights. It's the 5% on the rear window that I can't see through at night.

Only douches tint their windshields. A brow will fix any issues you'll have.

I have had tint on for 2 year's, only one ticket. I have sensitive eye's and will get migraines in winter with snow on the ground and bright sun reflects it even more. But I am debating peeling mine to get a brow instead since I don't drive it in winter anymore.

I didn't realize 50 would still look so dark, so thanks for the pictures.
Just a brow it is.

Yea with all the other windows so dark it actually turns out pretty dark.
