• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

What did you do to your Car today?

Today I checked my coolant, still nice and full. Doesn't look sludgy even after mixing dex and green (its mostly green now). However the coolant overflow tank......that bish is nasty looking.

So I'm replacing my spark plugs when I realize, "Oh no, I don't have the socket extension I need on me." So I stop what I'm doing, put everything away and decide to go downtown to a local Brewery. I start the car, put it in reverse and immediately the CEL starts flashing & the car starts making weird chug chug noises. I said to myself, "Awe s@&$, what did I do this time." So I popped the hood, check all the plugs and they're fine. Then I notice the rear coil pack is still unplugged. And I almost ignored the CEL & almost drove on a straight 4. Good job genius. I need a nap.

I love my 3.4l dohc in my vert. It has great top end power.

My timing belt was actually pretty easy to replace. It had the original one up to 100k miles.

The upper and lower intakes go bad but its pretty easy to replace. Other than that its a great engine. The oil pump drive leaks in all most all of them. I have found a way to fix that.
I definitely wouldn't mind getting it, I love the body style so much .

Yeah but you didnt mix dex and green together did you? When I did my coolant elbows and tstat it never even crossed my mind. Hasn't bit me in the ass yet, I think the nickname CaptnHalfAss might have to stick.

Yeah the frame lol. Motor mounts, ac lines, etc. I've never known the 3800 chain to be a maintenance item, they go to 300k and hold up. Some belts break at 80k. I've seen it on the Chrysler pt cruiser engines, 2.4 I think.

Timing belts generally do not break. They are considered a wear item though and the system as a whole (timing belt, timing belt tensioner, idler pulleys, water pump, etc) is to be changed every 60k miles on some Mitsubishi's to some Honda's at 100k. People like to make a big deal out of them, but the fact is unless you drive a lot, it's something that is only going to be done every 4-5 years at the earliest. You should probably do it at 5 years, regardless of mileage, just do to dryrot.

They don't generally break but it does happen and its the leading cause of impact failures. (Valves) I've seen it plenty of times. Now timing chains, never seen one break yet (does happen) but on the ford 4.0's I've seen them rattle like crazy well before 100k

Pondering the idea of tinting the front window on the impala. I definitely want to do the banner, but I'm considering doing the whole glass in a 50% or so to help with light issues. And then a darker banner up top. I don't know tho. I don't think the 50 would get me in trouble. Thing that bothers me is the windshield has the stupid black dots all around it, so those will show really bad I'm afraid.

I have 50% on the whole windshield of mine. It is more noticeable from outside than you think. I didn't get the brow because I thought that would make it more noticeable I tinted the shield. It is dark at night driving but you get used to it. I can still see just fine in the dark with the tint.

My side windows have 15% on them. This is a good comparison from inside the car on a sunny day. I was actually stopped for my tint in this picture.
