What did you do to your Car today?

I don't know if it would work on GM's window cranks, but my base model Eclipse I had back in the day I used a rag, and eased it behind the handle then "sawed" the rag back and forth. It popped the clip right off and it didn't go flying.

dont think so, the clip when installed in the crank was flush, the handle slotted so it was still smooth. you had to use a pick or small screw driver to push one side of the clip, as you push it it stretch out and then would fly off lol sucked. but they some pack of 10 for a few bucks back then.

When my buddy totaled his explorer, as we were spinning I went for the "oh Sh!t" bar and IT BROKE OFF. Then said "Yep I'm gonna die"

The only time I ever saw one of those broken, it luckily wasn't in my Prius (it was in a another guy's Prius). He was pissed at me nonetheless, since it was the girlfriend's fault. I'm not sure how she pulled it off. She weighed 95 on a good day, and I've yanked on them pretty good before.

My GTP has four "oh ****" handles. I only go fast in straight lines so they're never needed. The guy who needs them (Matt who drives a GT with half a sway bar and takes corners like a madman) has none.

your buddy was doing it all wrong. i at all times had 2 spare tires on wheels in the trunk lol i also worked at a Goodyear tire and repair shop as a kid. i was the tire and oil change guy. so used tires were free. i was taking home every good pair that came in my size.

this is what I need to do. I jokingly say my racekar will have six wheels. Four good ones and two cheapo's. And the cheapo's go on whenever I feel lighting them up. When I'm happy, go home, put the good tires back on, problem solved.

only problem is your tranny will hate you.

i had a 70 formula 400 firebird at the time. i could kill a good pair of tires with one good burn out lol nail it off the line the speedo went to 90 mph. and then it crawled down the road with smoke pouring out of everywhere. good times lol 300 foot lines down the road were my normal sig.

It's been almost 12 years since I had the car, but that actually looks similar to how the Eclipse was. I bet the rag trick would work.

Some day I dream of owning a car with crank windows again. I've never had to replace a crank window motor, ever.

believe it or not, todays hand crank windows work the same as the power windows. same regulator, just the hand crank where the motor should be. my last truck ate through em just like a power regulator. it ate 3 pass side regulators, the first 2 were dealer replaced. they still went bad.

even back in the day the hand crank regulators broke inside the door. rivets would break or the plastic parts would break off, or the crank broke, or the teeth on the gear it turns stripped. same crap new generation.

If you use a 180° pick, and your hand to shield they won't fly off. Grab the closed end of the clip with the pick so it kinda holds it in the pick. Your hand won't allow it to fly out if you are careful. That tool has lost me more clips than using a pick.

i wear 3 x gloves, ( i got sausage fingers) and this was all 20 years ago lol most of them fell into the door too. i found a few later on in there lol

My security light came on as I was driving to work.. So I got to work, shut the car off, started it again and let it run for a minute and it didn't come back. Weird..

will your key pull out when its turned to run? mine will and some times it can slide out just a little bit and the light comes on, but its solid and dont flash, and the car stays running.

shut it off re start it, security light is gone.

That must be what mine did. It hasn't come back on since so who knows haha.
