What did you do to your car today? Vol 2.0

Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0

when i was a kid a snow blower was not so common. if you owned one your were looked up to for sure. that being said, i also made a god damn killing shoveling snow.

who ever i went out with we made a 200 dollar each deal, then we can go home lol we passed that mark a lot of times.

a normal house with 2 inches was 20 bucks. deeper the snow got the more we charge. 80's prices. before i sold my truck i was snow plowing houses for 50 for 2 inches, and it only went up from there.

Yeah, tell me about it. Hoping to make more progress on getting it back on the road once the weather breaks.

Wow. Its 50 and clear here, thoughts of washing GTP or burnouts in Grape. OK, OK, I'm going straight to hell right this minute...

Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0

I went to town and had lunch with my brother's family and my buddy and his family and while there bought some snow shovels.

When I got home I cleared a path to the mailbox so the mail lady can deliver the mail tomorrow.

Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0

shoveled for 2 hours...broke 2 shovels in 1 hr 50 min...had to borrow the neighbors to finish the last of it.
before i' would have felt like a lazy bum for paying someone to shovel for me , but now i'm at the age where people drop over from heart attacks shoveling snow so i don't feel so bad. as others have said , my brothers and i back in the 70's ans 80's would be out early knocking on peoples doors making deals. didn't see one kid today in the 2 hrs i was out shoveling.

back then the city used to set half barrels of salt on street corners too...now i pay $7 for a 50 lb bag ..:th_angry2:

50lb doesn't go very far either.

I clear a path and the bottom of the drive at work and we have 50 lb bags of ice melt and a seed spreader I use to spread the melt. I can go through a whole bag in one setting, and I don't put it on that big of an area, and I don't put it on heavy either.

$20 bucks ? damn i guess i was shoveling the wrong neighborhood. from what i remember if we made ten bucks on a house we were thrilled.

Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0

I cleared only a few driveways when I was a kid. I don't even think I charged $5 LOL

Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0

thats what i'm sayin... i remember doing side walks for like 3 or 4 bucks....f'n scotty's crew was fleecin senior citizens for 20...lol

Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0

20 bucks was nothing, it was 10 each so we had to do at least 20 houses. most were two car driveways and 70 foot of sidewalk. if smaller you charges less, corner house, always 10 bucks more lol

you also had to pick your friends carefully for this crap too. you learn who the quitters are fast.

of course we had our regulars too.

so this is what i consider a asshole plow driver. biggest one in a long time. hands down winner of the douche bag award this year.

not only did he plow in the car in the pic. one was dug out, another still in the hole.

behind the car, where it go you ask? yeah that much snow is piled up, plus the other car on the other side of the corner.

this was the hole i was parked in. on the right you can still see the smooth area that was up on my car doors. two open spots means fill it with snow, even if you burring the cars....winner.
