What did you do to your car today? Vol 2.0

Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0

Got the bonneville done yesterday, inspected, registration and all that crap done today. Leave the registration place and all of a sudden "check gages" pops up on the hud, oil pressure dropped to 0, dafuq? Get it home, and see a nice puddle of oil underneath, good old oil pressure sending unit decided to take a dump. Damn thing looked good so I didn't bother replacing when the engine was out, went with a Napa one, added 2.5 qts to top off the oil and all is well again. So nice to have the lumpiness of the xp back again, stock cam sucks.

Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0

my break in process for customers cars?

put it together, drive it, make sure it stops at all, makes sure it doesnt make any noise (but sometimes when it does... fukkit.) and call it a day.

the parts i have to use are cheap junk anyways so i know they'll be back soon.. not my fault. lol

nothing but the best from Firestone

I was just looking at their brake page....it says they use Wagner thermo-quiet pads.

I thought those pads weren't supposed to be all that bad.
I'm going Akebono or Bendix next time.

Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0

Received my first recall notice..."park pawl failure due to contamination during assembly"...hmmm....

Had me curious on this, just had to look it up. Looks like an involved inspection and if it doesnt pass your getting a new transaxle. Glad im not a trans guy with this new 9 speed trans

Spazz yer inbox is full. Let us know how the paint holds up.

I like Thermo-Quiets. Manufacturer provides a guideline for break-in and I observe it.

They don't crack if you do that. Any pad can be messed up for life (and wreck rotors) by improper break-in but thats just been my personal experience. Never had to go for a second set of TQs.

SD, I can believe NJ is into emissions teabaggin like u said. What a rape. Again- look south guy. Good luck on getting past this ordeal.

Me and the GTP today- lets see- carried a good torque star with a nail in the tire home, just shufflin parts. No passenger seat makes it easy, yesterday I hauled a driver's seat upside down where the other seat goes lol. Ran around with the roof open a bunch, it was nice out. Tried A/C, still works.

Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0

Got my new front and rear stbs on and I have to say, wow it makes a difference. There's still plenty of improvement to be made but, for the first time ever in the Regal, I had some fun in some twisties tonight.

I just bought a set of the TQ's. I've got about 200 extremely annoying miles on a set of Autozone cheapies. The squealing when I brake is making me want to park it and walk home. Hopefully these pads live up to their name.

I put a set of Akenono on my sienna and they occasionally squeal too. I always gease all contact points and use new hardware. Think from now on I'm just gonna stick with OEM pads.

Edit: uh, I flipped my dogbones today :) Good for 15hp I hear. And primed a set of valve covers. Oh, and began porting my blower.

worst f ing pads under the sun, what you want for 20 bucks? Pure crap i tell ya. Do not buy them.

Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0

I've had TQ's in the front for almost 2 years now. They are no better or worse than any other semi-metallic pad I've ever used. The good thing with them is they produce minimal brake dust.

Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0

Scotty to each his own on brake pads, go with what you know. They are higher than $20 here. I actually became sold on TQ shoes not pads but now its what I pick for pads too. The break in is key on those.

Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0

Cruze has a decent coolant leak somewhere. Nice patch of dexcool on the ground.

Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0

Ran over a damn carriage bolts, and yes it went in the tire. took two plugs to seal the what looked like 1/2 inch threaded end.

those brakes i got for like 22 bucks for the f bodys, (ceramic too) they never, i repeat never stopped the car well. they glazed up like crap. and they wore the f out in less then a year, also had cracks in the pads, i call it cheap crap for sure. i dont drive much in a year, maybe 3,000 miles and im not hard on them at all.

Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0

I bought monroes and holy **** these are crap. I can put the pedal almost too the floor and they not want to lock the wheels up or slow the car down much assuming thats what it happens when the glaze? Probably doesn't help my rotors have big grooves in them also. This time round I'll be trying power stop.

Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0

Got my poly bushings in for my GMPP trailing arms. I think I'll just run them as is

I'm kidding.

get your rotors cut, that helps a lot with new pads, old worn rotors and new pads hardly ever turns out real good.

Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0

These rotors are pretty bad, the rears I probably could get away with but new powerstop front and rear kit is getting ordered at the end of the month. Oh i forgot I only used 2 new pads on the front when i did them a few years ago one on each side because I couldn't get the slide bolt out last time, some really ghetto stuff.

Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0

buy a good pair of vise grips lol

heres a tip: you can take both bracket bolts off then the bracket and caliper come off as one, you can still use a C clamp to push the piston back in, and you can slide both pads out, as long as the frozen slider still slides, you can pull this off.

Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0

That was the problem it didnt want too slide iirc, so it wouldn't fit 2 new pads and rotor. Shall be fun trying to get this crap off this time. Least I have air tools now.
