Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0
Or get the bolt extractors that have reverse flutes in them to grab and remove the bolts. FWIW a 1/2" fits better on those than a 13mm. And.. 1/2" is a smidge smaller.
Today was make the Audi legal day. Went to the RMV about 30 min before they opened and there were only a few folks. Poof, I'm maybe the 6th person helped. Pay a gazillion (Audi :th_depressed

and I'm off to inspection. Guy is about to pull a car in to work on and takes mine instead. Damn...that's service. :th_thumbsup-wink:
He pops his head in with an odd look and asks me to step out to the bay. (hmmm) Says he has to fail it because there's a missing seat belt piece. Oddest thing he's ever seen. But check this out, pull the belt and you can hear something up in the retracting part that sure sounds like the piece. (the part on the belt itself that hooks into the buckle). Shines his light in there.. you can see it too. It's behind a plastic piece and neither of us know how it comes apart. I laugh and say, I'll be back soon as I get it figured out.
Get home, search... search... no one has done speakers? No one ever took this apart? If this was a GP, ... there's pics of everything. Plus..I'd have fixed it in their parking lot.
It's right up in there
A good friend hooked me up with manuals online.
You take this off at the back of the headliner
Then you pop the rear seat and side piece below the trim
Next up is the C or D pillar, starting by removing this screw
Then it kinda pops. It's plastic welded to the other pieces around it as well. Pop a couple of those free. Undo the safety for it, because it has an airbag behind it and it can't become a projectile
Here you are..it's off
See that screw.. yeah, it holds the next two pieces in place. That one around the window is the money one that needs to move.
Next up..the rear deck has to slide forward. OMG, I can reach the piece I need. Wiggle a hand in, move that piece and ... reassembly time.
It's no wonder these cars never have a rattle. They used screws, awesome metal clips and things are over engineered. Aka meant to last the test of time w/o noises and issues.
Here you go. You passed
