What did you do to your car today? Vol 2.0

Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0

Gave the hoe a fresh oil change. Didn't change the filter as it's only like 3k miles old. I need to put a new crush washer on next time I do an oil change.

You went through the process of a oil change and still reused the oil filter..

Yes, because like I said before, it has 3000 miles on it. Oil filters can go upwards of 7500 miles. I change my oil every 3k miles so I don't need a new filter each time.

Yea I know they can be reused but why would it risk it and not to slap a brand spanking new one on there.

My motor is in good shape other than the pan leak, and there wasn't any metal shavings on the drain bolt. There's nothing to risk. It's 3000 miles. It's not like it's 5000 miles or something. It was last changed in July. And I'm pretty sure it's not even 3000 miles yet. Probably high 2's. How about this, if my engine breaks, I won't cry about it you, ok? All i wanted to do was put thinner stuff in for winter. All I wanted.

I try to wash it as much as I can. Even though it will be dirty by the end of tomorrow.

Oil filters can go upwards of 7500 miles.

Far out! Sorry, that just spiked the ol' absurdity meter. I don't know what else to say. Ya learn something new every day here! I used to switch the 455's oil for winter but landed on straight 30W year round and no complaints. I'm in a pretty mild climate, though.

Spent more time familiarizing myself with the trusty scan tool today, in the GTP. Actually installed it's s/w on my pc so I can look at stuff better. Feels like kindergarten lol.

If you have a car that has full synthetic in it, it can last 7500 miles. Now are you gonna change your filter halfway through without changing the rest of the oil? No, you change the filter at 7500 miles with the oil. So they can go that long.

Idc really, a Purolator filter around here runs $3.27 plus tax. For the better filter I pay a little more, why even leave it. Conventional oil can go 5k. 3800's dirty the oil a little faster than most modern engines, so I wouldn't re-use it especially on these engines.

The oil almost looked new when I took it out. I'm not concerned.
