Put front brakes on the LaCrap, new impact is badass peeled everything off super easy. Then I used too much lube on the pins and they seized and had to rip it apart again. All is well and no pulsation.

I've had a weird clunking sound that you can hear under acceleration occasionally, in person it doesn't seem like a misfire but on camera it does. The wheels don't spin as much every time it makes the noise, so I'm thinking it's a misfire now. Here's a sample from a bad driver video.


Just did lim/uim gaskets, cleaned the tb/maf, I'm running premium, all that. Original plugs and wires at 93k, I guess that's the place to start. See what it seems like to you.

Seems to be caused by wheel hop. Excess play in a rubber bushing if I'm guessing. strut mount maybe? Lift a little, lol. Check tire pressure too. Wheelspin is probably continuing after the squealy part.

It will do this with zero wheel spin, I just noticed that the wheel spin changes so I posted that clip. Seems to get louder with more torque, yeah I'll have to check bushing and mounts over. Just checked tire pressure two nights ago, set all of them to 35. I've been at like 30 mph, floored it and it does it all the way through 1st and as it goes into second it kind of tapers off. Very weird issue, it's not as constant as a misfire should be.

To me... after several more listens... the engine sounds perfect but something is bouncing and bumping the floor. Exhaust #1 candidate. You could always mount the dash cam in alternate locations to see whats bouncing around. I do better with sanding than I do with diag. lol

Got the GT to let some tire smoke out today, never intentional of course. Made carpet drying efforts, my doors leak and more rain is on the way. Ignoring the dark spot in the street under the engine. Then I got in the GTP for a food run and it seems minty fresh so bonus. Debating a spin in the big loud one currently.

I've been talking about putting new tires on the Jeep and it finally happened today. Ended up going with 245/65/17 Cooper A/T3's. I will also be changing out the full size spare with a new tire and planning on doing a 5 tire rotation. Initial thoughts on the tires are good so far, little noisy but give it a couple hundred miles for them to quiet down. I wanted something that was aggressive but still had a pretty good tread life warranty. Jeep is typically a pavement queen but still wanted something that was well above average in the rain and snow.

Although not done today in the past few weeks I've done new brakes, rotors, F&R differential service, transfer case service, shift kit, sonnax stage2 line booster, and transmission service.

Heard the belt chirping and what sounded like a bad idler pulley today, ended up being my water pump. I have most of it torn down, gonna finish up tomorrow. Metal shards everywhere!

That one must have some miles on it to be on it's 3rd pump. I literally just finished watching a video of a guy doing a water pump on a 3800 about 20 minutes ago lol. I must have done maybe 6 water pumps on 3800's, I almost always get the p/s pump bolts lined up right the first try.

This will be my first in the car. I was going to work on it tonight, but I hate the whole flashlight juggle so I decided just to do it under the light of the sun.

Ah, I did my whole lim job under a dark sky. I have a magnetic light that I use under the hood. Wait, don't you have an led strip for an underhood light?

I do, but I have to connect the battery to use it and I have the alternator disconnected to be this far in. I don't have a magnetic light or a metal hood to attach it to, lol. I could finish it tonight, but it should be a nice day tomorrow and I can show my son how to work on it and stuff...hopefully.

Yeah working in daylight is much better. Didn't think about the battery and, also about the hood not being steel. Disregard everything I said then lol.
Being a technician working on all sorts of cars, it makes me love working on these cars. Even general dd cars out there are far harder to work on.
