I Am looking to purchase a scanner in the $100 to $150 range. I have been looking at the Equus 3120 Innova Diagnostic Code Scanner or Equus 3130 Innova Diagnostic Code Scanner ..... 3120 can also read some OBD1 cars......3130 can do live data stream, no OBD1 capability... .... What can you recommend in this price range either from Equus or others ... ???? Thanks. :th_winking:

Yes and I own 2 now ...... but not sure how much more useful the live data stream capability is ..... vs. OBD1, which may not work on some cars..

live data is very helpful in diagnosing certain conditions.

It's also a good idea to look for something that can read ABS codes.

This is all assuming you're working on common vehicles like GM's.

For my OBD1 cars, I use WINALDL with homemade cable on an old compaq presario laptop. BUt for the GTP, I just use actron's simple autoscanner cp9575, it was aon sale for $99 a couple years ago and includes CAN also. I just used it today to view live data while driving down the road, seems that my #2, o2 sensor is lazy after 170,000 miles and throwing a p0420 once in a awhile.
