What dash cam is currently popular?

Just bought the mini 0805 cam, and I can say I'm really impressed with it. It has every feature I could ever ask for. It comes with a really nice media player that displays your speed and live route on google maps. Really nice quality and supports any micro SD card. Speed and location can be displayed on the video files if you want. Still more features I'm not aware of I'm sure

Woops, didn't realize this convo was ongoing... Hey that 805 looks like fairly whiz-bang apparatus. I was lookin hard at that one. I lack one bit of information as yet though. Wanting to know if dash cam footage is admissable evidence in Arkansas. We seem to have some unique laws concerning collisions and if not, well whats the point? I can steer one handed for burnout shots, lol.

I currently have the Mini 0803 with GPS and 16gb internal memory. Got it off e-Bay for $120 last year.

Works good for what it is.

Exactly!!! This is the dash cam I use.. Works AWESOME and has good video quality... I upload videos to my iPad third-generation, the to YouTube if needed. i've had issues trying to get them to download to my computer

I ended up with the Cobra CDR820. Works fine for me, but I would have to dilute the 1080 quality so much to post a sample (or so it seems to me currently) that the sample would not reflect the output of the device. Just got the thing and tried it out, so not much to tell. PC playback looks good and sound quality is decent.

The 1080 quality of my cobra 810 was literally no better than 720 for some reason, just a larger resolution/file size so I stuck with 720. Try messing with yours a little sometime and see if 1080 is worth it on that model.

It looks like 1080 but I'm not too critical. Nor am I used to 1080 file size! Memory hog. It does have a 720 output option, may try that. On my like fifth try to get a tidbit uploaded to PB, maybe I'll noodle it out and put up a sample eventually. Current attempt might be the one. Did not have a cigar lighter working in the 69 GP but just solved that so now I can go try to get rumbly rumble vid. Don't hold yer bref!

Don't crank this video up! The dash camera does NOT like glasspacks! Strike one. Does not quite hold a day's commuting with the stock 8GB card.

For the sake of search results and better info I am updating this old thread.

That Cobra 820 was a POS. It developed power switch problems and could not handle the heat in the car. I got by with it for about a year before it quit altogether.

I have this now, $40 in the automotive aisle:

It does handle the 455 sound better.

The memory card was bad right out of the box. Used the one from old cam (twice the memory) and its working as it should. My conclusion is that quality is unavailable so no need to spend much. Buy new, throw away. Often. Thats my only advice.
