What can I do to replace the abs sensor wires?

2003 Grand Prix. 187,000 miles. New Moog wheel bearings. Both the ABS and low traction lights are on, been like that for some time. I tried to remove the wiring from some junkyard GP's, and noticed that the wires are very thin. Are they 18 or 20 gauge? Has anyone tried to run new wires from the ECBM to the connector on the wheel bearing for the front wheels?

I had the same issue. I tried the kit and it still didn't work. Ended up replacing the whole run with 16 gauge to be safe. I'd try the kit first though. Another thing to check is for corrosion on the ebcm connector itself. I had to replace a few terminals to get things to work, though that's an extreme case. Usually they can be cleaned just fine.

Had ABS light for right front. Wire looked fine on the outside. It was broken inside the insulation. Bought the Dorman ABS wire kit, soldered in, no problems since. Pretty common problem on here.

Yup! Though I completely agree with Scotty, it's much better to know what code you are throwing because the light can mean many different things. In addition to the wire, I also had to replace my module due to a second fault, so you could have more than one issue. Just better to be sure. I have a scan tool that can do abs/srs and more and I think I paid $100? Best money I've spent

Scan to find the location. Sounds like you need the "Help" wiring harness; either the wires rub through or the plug goes bad.

I have not had the ABS checked out by anyone. With the mileage at 187,000 and with both ABS and traction control (on the DIC) being on, I figured I would just replace the ABS wiring (harness) as I have had the ABS/TC light come on before on the other GP's I owned.
In my other high mileage GP (274,000 miles) I just pulled the bulb for the ABS and covered the traction control light with black tape. Been like that for 7 years.
But, you raise good point that there could be more going on.
I need to get some money together and buy a fully functional scan tool to that I can check things out on my own. It is pretty much against my religion to take any one of my GP's to a shop. All the shops around me don't seem to have a clue how to diagnose anything.
I had no idea that Rockauto sold a harness for ABS, I will send for one of those.
Thanks for the advice everyone!

I was installing winter tires a few weeks ago, and I saw that the ABS wire was completely pulled off of the right side wheel bearing. That particular wheel bearing is not worn out. I'm not replacing it just to get the ABS and trac light to go off.
I removed the gauge cluster and took out the bulb for the ABS and took black electrical tape to cover the trac light on the DIC.
