What are your thoughts on SLP

What do you guys think with slp's pcms? any experience with them? Also what do you think about slp's cold air intakes? I was happy with purchases i made from them for my f-body but it doesn't seem like gp's are their specialty. Any thoughts are welcome. I'm looking for the cheapest route for my pcm. slp is 99 with a 175 dollar refundable core charge. Personally if zzp's pcms didnt get negative reviews, i'd go with them because i have that 50 dollar credit from returning my old dp.:D

i know their intakes arent very good. but their pcm's im not sure about. ive heard great things about INTENSE pcms and OVERKILL. i had no problems with the zzp pcm in my last gtp, but i will be going for intense this time.

and you should use that 50 dollar credit toward the wizaired intake they sell... thats a great intake.

make your own intake. find someone local to tune your car too. it will be better than any off the shelf pcm even if it is "tuned" for your mods.

I did not even think SLP made pcm's for the w-body. I would consider the other options of overkill, intense and ZZP. Guys seem to be very happy with overkill and intense. Overkill's pcm's are locked so you won't be able to adjust the tune.

Yeah go get the same **** people use to run the sewer system in their house to make an intake out of, I get so tired of hearing that ****.
If you want to keep a stock look, than an SLP intake will work for you. If you want something that looks nice and that isnt for draining **** out your house, get the Wizair from ZZP or a Thrasher intake. As far as a PCM, all of them have pretty much the same features. I have heard alot of good things about the Overkill PCM's.

wow, such hate for an intake that will outperform anyting else on the market. "stock looking" is for suckers.

i say open cone if you really want to have a high flowing cheap intake.

Buddy, get off of your high horse and read facts. Custom made FWI's blow the f**king doors off of SLP's BS intake and the $4,000 other intakes that people make for the 3800. I think someone ran the intake piping to your head...is that s**t draining out of your ears?

haha. have you ever owned a wizair?? they tubing sucks pretty bad and well i traded it for **** pipe :D and i garentee it will out perform the stock verson anyday.

you know, you could paint it or do something nice to it to make it look really good, but i guess we cant get creative.

spend the money if looks are that important to you, but performance wise, you could acomplish the same with **** pipe :D

98SilvermistGTP... You do understand we aren't actually digging up sewer piping to build our amazingly well performing FWI's right? What is Wizaird, k&n, AEM, and zzp piping? Plastic. More specifically, it's PVC plastic. What is the piping you so elegantly labeled "**** pipe?" PVC plastic. What is the difference? Only your opinion. :th_thumbsup-wink:

umm i dont think bluegtp91 is knocking pvc intakes. silvermist is the one that brought up all the bs about them being for sh*t!

lol, its funny that I just made this post in another thread. SLP is junky. Their customer service sux and so does their quality control. I wouldn't buy anything from them. An intake is easy enough to make on your own. An intake off ebay and an SLP are pretty much the same idea. Its just a pipe with a filter on the end. Basically all they do is remove the baffles and box (usually)

lol. i didnt mean to stir up any trouble with this thread but I'd say it was for the best. SLP loses, custom intake wins. Now for my list of questions that comes with everyone of my posts... 1st off, i like the look of a FWI and i bet it does perform well but it looks like a PITA to clean the cone when it gets dirty as i'm assuming it gets dirty quite easily. 2nd, what diameter pvc can i use? which works best? or should i not use pvc? 3rd, I have a 97 which means the overflow tank is right behind my left headlight and I would love to just save the money and not buy the relocation kit. Finally, the FWI is still a possibility but if i decide to just use an open cone in the space where my current intake sits, will it help me out at all or is it going to be the equivalent of my stock intake? Thanks fellas. And for silvermist, ill still support slp and maybe get some black lugnut caps off them or something.

also random question. how much do you guys think i should sell my stock white rims for? no curb rash or bends in any of them. tires not included? they probably arent very desirable but they don't seem very common.
