What am I doing wrong??

So here it is.

I just bought a new boat and decided to take 'er for the maiden voyage this past weekend.
This is my first boat and I wasn't quite sure of the exact Standard Operating Procedures for launching it off a ramp, but I figured it couldn't be too hard.
I consulted my local boat dealer for advice, but they just said "don't let the trailer get too deep when you are trying to launch the boat."
What am I doing wrong?
Well, I don't know what they meant by that as I could barely get the trailer in the water at all!

Anyhow, here's a picture below. See for yourself. What am I doing wrong?

thats some good sh!t I saw some guy launch his boat get out to unhook the front tie and his truck rolled in up to the hood the only lucky part was he turned the truck off first

Nice! I saw a guy (really a DB) drive up to a launch pont in Smithville with his jacked up 4WD and is 28' Donzi. He and his frosted tips revved his motor good and loud and proceeded to prepare boat for launch. He was backing the boat off the trailer - revving the engine in it this time, and blaring the stereo - and looking around for approval...when it stopped backing up...as if stuck. He looks around and goes to the back to see if he's against something. He didn't see anything so he must have figured - "hey, I've got a Donzi, I'll just goose the throttle a little and get loose". Excellent plan, my frosted-tipped friend...until you hear this crack...and then a pop...and then a little splash.

That would be the front tethering hook that you just ripped out of your beautiful boat - because you forgot to unhook it from the winch.

D-Bag. But he did make my day.

lauching boats isnt too bad so long as the boat launch itself doesnt sucks. long shallow ones arent the best. i like it when they drop off pretty quickly so i dont have to put the truck super far in.
