Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

What a grand prix is worth

A car is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Soon enough, if he sells it, we will know what offer he finally accepted. That will be what that car is worth. Like everyone else already said, 5k seems a little steep. KBB gives you a good idea for a starting point, but by their standards "good" condition is nearly perfect. It's probably more like fair ( by KBB standards), and that could be a difference or 1k or so. Figure $500-$600 ($400 on the cheaper side) for decent tires at least a couple hundred for struts all the way around (if you do it yourself). It is used, so you can't expect him to pick up the whole tab on the tires and struts, so you cut those costs in half and you get your $3000-$3500. Offer him $3000 and go from there. See if you can settle where you are both comfortable. He is probably starting high, hoping someone will offer him the real price he wants. That price probably isn't much less than $5000. Some people are just out of touch, I've dealt with them many times. It sounds like a good car, and pretty good mileage for the age. Take care of it, and you will have a good car that will last you quite a while.

As for visual mods, shoot some speed holes in the hood with your XD.

Just realized this thread is 3 months. Just read through and realized you got the car. Congrats. New tires don't add value, but bad ones can subtract if you're buying it needing new ones. It also makes it harder to sell. If I'm buying a car from you and have to put tires on it right away you better make it worth it by dropping your price to make up a little bit of the cost.

Owners manual says to check and fill if necessary every 30,000 miles. Never says to drain and refill.

I would check the level and see where it is at. Most likely it has NEVER been changed so if you want to do so, I would suggest changing it regardless. If you just want to be really preventative, depending on the mileage and if it has ever been done, the couplers in the superchargers don't tend to fair well past 100k and start getting worn or making noise. All depends on how the car was driven.

If you want to do it, ^^^ Might be a good thing to look into, regardless if you change the oil, once the coupler goes... you get to buy more oil AGAIN. Might as well kill 2 birds with 1 stone, IMO anyways.

The car has 115,000 on it. what would you do? This is my first gtp. Im looking for advise/ guideance

If it were me, I would. But I prefer to keep problems from happening, some live by "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". If it doesn't have a rattle coming from the snout you could simply suck the fluid out and refill with 2 bottles of GM SC Fluid. If it has a rattle, it needs replacing.

Take the belt off, rock the supercharger pulley back and forth, if there is any play the coupler is getting worn, if its tight and no movement between rocking, the previous owner may have replaced it at some point. I bought my 99 GTP at 67k and the coupler was shot. Some have made over 150k before it goes, just depends.

Yup, get that kit, has everything you need to do it... minus rags and latex gloves.

Be forewarned, old supercharger oil stinks something fierce... and if it soaks in to your skin, you won't be touching a female for a couple days. Don't do what I did, buy good gloves before you take the snout off. And rags you can throw away, the fluid you don't suck out will still get everywhere.

I couldnt just take a spray bottle and suck it out, or do i have to take the snoute off?

yes you can just suck it out with a spray bottle, but if you need to take the snout off you will spill some old oil, and it stinks bad.

i laid some rags under the snout to catch the fluid that ran out of it. then cleaned it up with brake cleaner, inside the snout and the blower side, gears and all. and the engine.

I will concur with the fact that used supercharger oil is the most god awe full smelling fluid that can come out of a car, and I have smelled burnt tranny fluid burnt differential fluid and I would much rather bathe in both of those than get any of the supercharger oil anywhere.
