Went to court yesterday

Well I went to court yesterday for my reckless driving ticket. I was busted for driving 60 in a 35, so 25 over the limit. This was my first reckless ticket, and my record showed that I currently have +3 points on my license.

When my name was called I approached the bench, and plead guilty, the judge explained that this was a jail able offense. She in turn asked the officer if he was seeking jail time, which he was not thank god………

I did show her a copy of my driving record and several character reference letters. I also said that I would like to take the VA DMV driver improvement program to improve my record again.

She looked at all my stuff, and turned me over to the VA prosecutor. So, right now I have been court ordered to go and complete the “Driving Behavior Management Program” through Arlington County, VA. Which will start in February, and once I have completed that I will go back to court on the 8th of June. When I go back I will receive my sentence, at that point I hope the charges will be dropped.
 


that driver course sucks. a bunch of morons that are habitual and then you stuck in the middle.

i had to go for a 105 in a 55.

lol well atleast you can drive threw that town....lol I got banned from Hayti,MO for doing well over 100 more then the speed limit!
 
I would have got a lwayer, and had the reckless charge dropped down to a normal speeding ticket, then just pay it.... and then take the course to get the points off.

worked for me a long time ago when I lived in Ohio......

Remember I still haven't been charged with anything yet, that won't happen until June. I have a pretty good feeling that the ticket will be dropped all together, or it will be reduced to a moving violation. Which is a 3 point violation here in VA vs. a 6 point reckless. The judge was really cool with me. I have no issues taking this course, this one is different than the one that is offered through the VA DMV.

And I will also be adding the additional 2 hours onto the “Driving Behavior Management Program” to get the 5 plus points put back on my license.

oohhhhh ****...i would have kept going, but the cop was on a bike too so i wouldnt have gotten far enough out of sight to get away. also, my bike doesnt take cornors well when youre doing 120+ mph. (i ride a 1985 yamaha fj1100. its slow, heavy, and long.)
 
im pretty sure they would drop it after those classes. as long as you sound censure about being sorry and not laughing about it or belittleing it.
