Ok, so are they stronger or weaker? Someone with 2 blown up, both series motors, a hydraulic press and a gauge should test this.
 
I don't see why you would need to worry about the strength of a pushrod. in order of strength of blocks, as far as I know, the L32 is strongest then L67, then L36, and L26
 
So it's a question of compression strength versus tensile strength, thin brittle L26 rods suck.

No the l26 don't have the extra expansion on the piston rings so the expand from too much from boost and get stuck and pop.

If you have the proper timing you should be fine. My rod bearings went on my l36 topswap with headers and an Intercooler because my tune wasn't right and I laid into from a dead stop.
