Well guys, end of the road

Does the Legacy come with a glass tranny like the WRX too?

if you get a spec b it goes with the 6 speed that is in the STI.

also, the WRX tranny isnt horrible, but people beat the mess out of them and expect them to hold up. if you drive like a normal person you probably wont have bad luck.

completely understandable. as much as i love GPs, it takes quite a bit to get them to see 12s.

V8/turbo or GTFO pretty much is how I feel now.
i was soo close to picking up a l32/trans to drop in my GT, but i think i'd much rather keep it as a DD and buy an LSx.

aside from the VR4, any other cars in mind?

Is it common for people to get that tranny? I've never seen one in a plain WRX before but I'm not checking every one of them I see either. All I have heard is the tranny can handle no more power than stock or it blows, just what I've heard/read though.

wrxs have the "glass" 5mt as do most legacys, however the spec b legacys have the bulletproof 6mt from the sti

but the 5mt isnt as bad as its said to be. bout the same as your trans :th_nanana:

a lot of people like to say it will take around 300 whp or 330 wtq before it starts eating itself. most of what ive seen is that people lose third gear first. there are solutions to make it stronger, but they come with a price: new 'stronger' gears or a 6 speed swap. you can break anything if you treat it like crap, so nothing is indestructible. there are numerous people with well over 300 awhp on the stock 5 speed and doing fine. the real reason people start breaking stuff is putting a really heavy clutch on a stock gearbox. id rather replace clutches then the gearing.

Looks like I may hold onto the car a bit longer. Not really getting any hits and refuse to lower the price any more. Did pick up some slicks from a friend, so maybe I can actually get off the line a bit better

It's rough. Put so much time, energy, and money into a car and you don't want to let it go. Friend KIND OF got me excited about it again when he gave me his slicks. I still don't know how much longer i'll keep it. I know for sure, with the way prices are going, it won't be anytime soon

They're a little flat but I was just test fitting. (rear is lifted cause of the "cable mod")

Oh yeah, forgot you have to register to view that section. Well basically it's a cable to stick through the chassis and the rear strut so the strut can't compress and all the weight lies on the cables on each side. Benefit to this is there's no sag in the rear when you launch
