Weird Situation, Dont know if anyone can help...

Okay, so... this time last year I bought an Aeroforce, plugged it in, worked great. About 2 months later I got my Overkill tune, hooked it up, happy times, everything works. Got a new head unit that same month, everything still works except I had an interface for the HU that made my instrument cluster die intermittently and throw some weird codes that either had no definition, or (I was told) made no sense on this car. Got a new interface, fixed the issue, everything was back to working nice for like 3 months.

Then my Aeroforce gauge started shutting off and resetting in a never ending cycle. I posted on their forum about it. I learned that the gauge is basically always listening for data traffic on the car's network, and when it detects that data that means the ignition is on/motor is running, when it stops detecting the data, the car is off so the gauge shuts off. The reason my gauge is cycling like that is presumably because it thinks the car is off, turns off, then sees data so it turns back on, repeat. They suggested I put my electronics back to stock.

I put in my old non-stock HU that worked with the gauge, still doing it. I put back the stock HU, still doing it. I tried no HU, still doing it. So I sent the gauge back as defective, they tested it and said it's good and they're sending it back to me so I can figure it out. They asked me if I had an aftermarket tune in it, I said yes, but they never said anything futher about it.

The tuned pcm is the only piece of electronics I changed that I didnt put back to stock, could this be the issue? I mean, I know Will uses pcms from other models, and maybe there's something in the programming or OS that's non-native to my Comp G and causing a data issue? That could explain why I was getting weird codes that dont make a lot of sense on this car. Im just lost on this one, I emailed Will like two weeks ago and never got a response, which is frustrating. I also emailed Intense because I saw that they do their pcms according to the correct year and model, and I was hoping maybe that could help my issue. Intense never got back to me either for a little over a week now. I know Will usually takes weeks to respond to an email, but I was hoping Intense would be faster because I'd gladly switch to them if they could fix the problem.

I just dont know about the in-depth pcm stuff like operating systems and actual programming and data processing, etc, to make an educated thought on it, hoping someone here could give me some light.

did you have to run a power wire to you AF gauge? if so it is possible that there is an issue with that wire. especially because that wire is sometimes shared with the Sterio/amp wire. my guess is the problem lies there.

as for the tune i dont think that is the issue. the codes are prob manufacture specific and you need a master list to get the info from them... another possibility is there there are stored codes in the car right now and that is causing the issue. Have the car scanned for codes and repost what those codes are. have the codes reset. if they wont reset the codes unplug the battery for 30-45 min and that should wipe them out.

Well I had the battery unhooked for like 3 days while I was installing my rockers last month, so hopefully when I get my gauge back and plug it in it'll work again.

I didn't have to run a power wire, it got power from the obd II plug, I tried adding the 12v constant to make it stay on but nothing changed. I'll check for residual codes.

Thanks for giving me a direction to try.

I discovered that if I turn the ignition on, engine off, the gauge powers up and reads properly at the proper speed, correct data, no delay, no restarts.

Soon as I start the engine the gauge blanks out and resumes restarting.

Sometimes it will stay on for a second, it will load the headings for the parameters, like Knock and coolant temp for example, but blank where the numbers would be... Then even rarer it will display a number, freeze on that number and then the gauge resets.

since its so hard to see anything I opened up the menu since it only restarts like that in scan mode and went into the misfires menu...
It was flashing 0 and 64 on some cylinders (nothing in between, just 0 or 64) while displaying "xxxx" for others like it shows for cylinders 7 and 8, I assume meaning the data from those cylinders is coming and going.

Obviously something is screwing up the data transmission in the car, I guess I'll start trying all the electronics piece by piece again
