Weight reduction

Are there any tips to offer for losing a little weight on the 04+ grand prix models?

I belive you can use an aluminum subframe from an impalla.. Would run you about 150 bucks and about 50 pounds savings.

Is there anything that can be removed or replaced for a reasonable price from either the interior or exterior? I would still like to keep the interior as functional as possible (kepp the rear seats, a/c,door panels, etc.)

Doubt it. It is a family sedan. If you start ripping stuff up it is gonna end up looking like the one seated wonder Acura CL 3.2 Type S at the local track trying to break into 15's with the dual exhaust mod...

I'd just leave it be. That way when you win races, you can say that you have a FULL interior. :D

without effecting overall safety or removing interior it will be hard to lose alot of weight

Here is a list that is mostly 04+based

GTPSLEEPER's Misc. Supporting Mods
quite a few of the weights do not match up with 97-03 parts unless marked

Interior is quite overated. Besides whats required for the car to drive, a seat and a radio hooked up to two speakers is all you need.

LMFAO!

Seriously though, I wouldn't ruin the car but completely gutting your street car/daily driver. I've always always respected non gutted street cars vs gutted. I've been around some quick full interior cars so I maybe a bit biased.

take the carpet up and remove the sound deadening material. gut the trunk. thats bout it. not much weight dropped so not really worth it

Eh I dont think its worth it unless your making strickly a track car. Ive had a car full of ppl and lots of junk in the truck (road trip) and the car still pulled. I would say it was an extra 400 lbs at least. I noticed a very little diffrence from just me in the car.

Think someone removed the electrical tape one and weight it if i remember right it was 5lbs of tape.

Can remove the spare.

My car ran a 12.4 with a 6 second 60' and a race weight of 3700 lbs

drill chunks of ur frame out.....LOL I have seen a DD chevy love that look like swiss cheese under it! but that thing could haul some balls!!!

I dont know what you have for mods so far, but if you had custom exaust installed you could shed some pounds there. lose the cat, resonator, and get some lighter mufflers, the stock ones are kinda heavy, or just go straight pipe..less wieght :th_thumbsup-wink:

with everything out of the trunk and the car with me in it it weighed 3615 or something close to that. i highly dought you will get under 3500 with you in the car unless you start swaping out suspension components for lighter ones and things like that. it would be cheaper to just make it faster.
