Weight Loss or Weight Gain Thread "2012"

i did 10min yesterday on the 100i with other routines. Rode my bike to and from the YMCA too. Rode 19.5 miles total on my bike and 2miles on the machine. Rode 14.5 of that right after working out with friends. My cousin wanted to ride his new TREK so i felt like I needed to show him the ropes.

Picture is relevant. It works lol

back on the diet plan...shooting for 30-40 pounds again in 10 weeks, same game plan as last year except this time around i'm going to try a little harder.

i was about 1000 calories shy of my 'goal' calorie count yesterday and today i made it out of lunch overestimating my calorie count at around 800 (we got catered saz's for lunch). going to the gym after work and eating fish/veggies for dinner so i'll be easily into another low calorie day.

Nothing convinces me I'm about to die quite like cardio day.

Worked up to 10 singles at 195 on cleans
4x10x135 power clean and press
5x10x225 deadlift

Not every day's an exhibition... or even an exemplary workout. Which is fine, because he's got thousands more workouts for the rest of his life. At his size and inexperience, I call it respectable. The body doesn't care if the weight doesn't increase... work is work. 21 reps, though... that's something to work on... From my own experience, especially when I was (still am) learning, the more reps in a workout, the better. There's neural pathways to be built through repetition, and even when they're there, you've got to warm it up and "grease the groove" every workout anyway. For me, 21 reps is usually a warmup. Something to consider, anyway.

All the same, while I was cleaning today, there was a cat that outweighed Kolton going 3x10x135 on deadlifts and wandering off to do something else mediocre, maybe get home in time to catch Two And A Half Men and eat a salad. I say 21 reps at 275 is a vast improvement over that guy's mentality.

The body DOES care about weight increase. The more reps isnt better. If your in for a endurance kinda thing sure, size and strength its not.

Okay, yeah, I said that wrong... the body cares about weight. I know this because if I did my 50 deads at 405 instead of 225, I wouldn't see the inside of the gym tomorrow. I just meant that the muscles don't know the number and effort level and time spent performing the reps were important. I'm guessing 275 is pretty close to his 1rm until he's nailed his technique down, which I'm certain he hasn't yet. As far as I'm concerned with deadlifts, anything over 3 reps per set is cardio... which is fine.

I'm a monstrous fan of beating the hell out of myself with heavy singles at 90-95%... but it really does cripple me sometimes. It's great for strengthening the central nervous system and my lifts move fast that way, but it wreaks havok on my body... I've gotten elbow tendonitis and two hernias from moving faster than my body could adapt or my technique could develop. The injuries sure did teach me to pay attention, though.

Went to the gym twice today.

Gym, then to work, then back to the gym. No slacking.

Ive been following Corey's routine he wrote me, but modified it a little here and there.

But what i must say, the Tricep workout is killer. I do skull crushers with barbell and body dips with a belt and weights, plus close-grip bench and over-head extensions. My triceps feel like death after each lift.

I'm jealous that you can add weight to your dips. I somehow forgot about them for months... tried the other night. I could do half as many as I used to. Oops. Back on that horse, I guess.

Good tricep routine dan, just remember to eventually keep upping the weight by 5-10lbs once you hit 7 reps on 4th set.

Does any of this work you guys do have a practical application in life besides fetching women?

Ripped off another 1,000 this morning. Added 3 minutes to finish that off.
