Weight Loss or Weight Gain Thread "2012"

A pec tear is luckily one of the few injuries I've never had the displeasure of experiencing. Because of my busted shoulders, I exclusively close grip my flat benching, which is probably why, in addition to what might be considered a paranoid amount of warm up reps for all pressing maneuvers.

I'm in the same boat, most bench work is done with a inside the shoulders grip...blows up the triceps pretty good too...floor presses, or even on bench with legs extended helps warm up the back pretty good for bench work also, I keep the weight a 135 for this however...moved up to 255x8 for 6 sets today..slowly but surely...

I will post in here.

SO, in 2012 I was 257 lbs. I was fat! Worst shape/most weight I have ever been. I was captain of my soccer team (all 4 years) and ran track in high school (145 when I graduated). I then went into the military were I added a little weight but still stayed in shape. When I ETS'd (got out) I was 160ish. (that was in 05). I am a 1/4" away from 6 foot. anyway I was easily drinking a 6 pack a night give or take. weekends we would put cases away.

in 2012 I started watching american ninja warrior and got into it! decided to make a change. My wife said she'd join me. (she was not fat or over-weight) shes just NEVER been athletic (latin, and just doesnt gain weight).

Anyway, we did the p90x a few times but with my busy job I couldnt schedule the time to do it. So after doing it once I switched to my own thing.

I quit all french fry's and all soda/sweet tea. quit going out to eat. I slowed my drinking down. No more weekday drinking (until 2014, I now may have A beer on a tuesday or thursday night). Then on weekends I might have a 6 pack. My tolerance has dropped! I am a light weight now!

I "workout" 3-4 times a week in my garage (whenever I can fit it into a day). My current routine is 3 sets of 60 situps (180 total. no feet holds). My wife got me the "perfect pushup". I do a routine that consists of about 120 pushups total. I then do 3 sets of pullups. As many as I can I have gotten up to 8-10 a set (so 24-30 pullups). I do the sets in rotation (so 1 set of situps/pushups/pullups. then set 2) I have done this with a variety of different things on and off (for muscle confusion purposes) since 2012. I then finish with a 2-3 mile jog. I also play soccer and am just much more active than I used to be.

I dont eat perfect, but I eat allot better than I did. I drink and eat much less, and just overall feel better.

I am currently hovering right around 180 depending on the day. my 6 pack is visible (still has a little cushion though) and veins are starting to pop more and more every workout it seems.

glad I did. Our son is now 5 and if I wouldnt have done something I wouldnt have been able to keep up with him.

Damn, you got a thick-ass back ithurtz.

Redneck: Definitely surpassed my weightloss, dang man. 180's a nice place to be.

Women took that photo and when I saw it my jaw dropped, I dont even know how thats possible. Maybe the sun was aligned with jupiter at the correct time or something because I sure as hell dont see it.

I think I might try to shed a few pounds starting next week..... we shall see how that goes. Im somewhere in the 235-240 range I beleive, Ill be fine staying around 225, 220 MAYBE.

Haha, you know, self-image is funny. I'm so used to being huge... dropped back to comfortable in a large t-shirt, dropped two sizes on pants and jackets (I just love having to spend money on new suits!)... had no idea until one day I realized I looked like a kid wearing his dad's clothes. I was wondering why people no longer avoided me i hallways. I weigh less than when I graduated college now. Still looking to drop another ~20lbs this year.

Just found out my quads (and my package) don't fit in Old Navy Loose jeans, which were my old go-to when I was a fat(ter)ass, so that search has begun.

...it's like being happy and p*ssed off at the same time when you can't fit your go-to jeans (other than because of waist size growing) ...I have that problem now that I've switched back over to 5x5...

My old roommate was a body builder. Huge thighs. The only jeans that fit him where lucky brand

Oct 10th is the wedding. I'm in reasonable shape currently. Was able to move most of 40,000 lbs of trap rock the other week by myself (some help) over three days. Shoulders/arms definately took it well and I'm going to hit the push ups fast before it disappears.

Likely I'll hit Insanity again, some of the T25 etc. Mostly though..I'm always busy working around the house. Got plenty to do. Looking to hit about 180 for the wedding.

probably shouldn't have put the scale on the ground yesterday and stood on it, but i did anyway.

i'm up to 260, probably my heaviest to date. dammit.

Ah, tits, something cheaper's gotta fit! Haha, thanks for the tip, though... Got a Lucky outlet store in the next town over... Figure I'll see if there's anything at Target and failing there, will wind up at Lucky.

I actually know of a powerlifter/bodybuilder that ate up to 310lbs or somesuch to make his wife feel better when she was pregnant. What a guy.

Made myself a pair of farmers walk handles. I only have enough matching plates to do 150lbs/hand, but even at such a light weight my entire back is ridiculously smoked. Gotta craigslist up some more plates. Sort of putting some stuff to play with in the back yard when it's sunny and I'd rather not be in the gym.

before/after pics lets go

I will work on that. I am pretty sure we took some before pics when we started p90x... If not I know of one when I was out on my John boat that my buddy took. FAT! seeing that pic is what motivates me.

I was BAD yesterday. had a boston creme donut at tim hortons then had a small bowl of ice cream with chocolate syrup last night. :( that is the most unhealthy I have been in a long time (other than drinking one or two to many beers).

its taken me 2 years to get here. it was not fast or in a hurry at all, but they say if you lose it fast you will put it right back on. I am very happy with 180's I just want the little bit of "ab protector" I have left to go away and I will be pretty happy with myself. its getting there. SLOWLY... I just dont have enough time in the day to think straight right now. Let alone work out any more than I do. I had some free time yesterday, but that was the first 2 hours of free time I have had to myself since christmas break. I just sat. thats all. did nothing. I thought about going for a run, but then I just let my mind go into no where. next thing I knew it was 7pm and my son was FINALLY out of the bath and dressed. Then snap back to reality. DAD!

LoL... I work 50 hours a week. (start at 6:30) for the summer I am taking 9 credits. That means one class 2 nights a week from 5:30 to 9:30. (mon. wed.) get home about 10:15. one online class that I have about 8-10 hours of homework a week. tuesday and thursday. Come home, workout and spend time with the boy (he worksout with me and rides his bike when I run) then we play soccer. Then I do homework till 11. Friday I do monday and wed homework. I coach his soccer team. Saturday is game day then workout day. mondays are practice (wife fills in for me)... Sundays are mow lawn and do house stuff and family time. Oh, and did I mention we are in the process of buying a house right now to...

SIGH... School is to much. BUT, I will have this degree plan done in may, and will graduate (again). TIRED OF SCHOOL. I hope to make this my last round.
