Weekend project...

Is that a 3 stage color? I'm looking at buying a hail damaged gxp tomorrow an the guy mentioned that... Looks the same color was just curious.

if its painting the same color and not much body work like in mine i can get it done in a weekend but i usually dont paint whole cars on side jobs....and cost of something like i did to mine is about $2500 to $3000....thats to cover labor, materials, and over head costs of the shop.....paints expensive but if done right looks real nice...

Ive been saying this for a long long time paint isnt that hard to do to make it lood great if its done right and it shouldnt cost much more than materials and whats needed to paint for cost. 3k for paint is insane IMO. Its mostly in the prep work and cleanliness!!!

first off.... ralphy Iraq vet, its takes a lot of time and energy to paint a car, a stedy hand and a good eye to make everything look flawless. If u dont have anything nice to say stay off the post....
and csssaint12....sorry about our distraction, but how did you plan on getting your car painted? Isn't MN kinda far away for a weekend job? :)

kejross...nope, its not a 3 stage. The paint code is 9800 for my car and its called dark cherry metallic. I don't think they made GP's in tri-coats.

I'll have to pull that paint codes when I look at it tomorrow. Said something about a goldish pearl look to the paint, but from pics it looks same as yours.

Well I am trying to get into a local body shop this summer to help out to learn how to do body work and if that was the case I probably would do it myself and save some dough. The car just started to have small surface rust spots and dont want my car rusting out already.

Ive painted before and yet people insist you have to have a "shop" do it and spend thousands of dollars thats why I said its 99% prep and cleanliness. If you take your time and do it right the results will prove themself.

Really you have rust on your 04 plus already!!! ??? I live in Grand Forks ND my cars always clean and it wasnt rusting, neither the 98 Regal GS I had or the 02 Grand Prix had rust at all. Not even bubbles on the inside of the doors where the door skin meets the shell.

It has little surface rust. Just some little little rust cirlcles that rubbing compound takes away. Plus I can't keep my car constantly clean cause I'm at college.

That looks fantastic dude, great job.

I would love to get my car repainted, but I am not willing to shell out around ~$2500 for a paint job. If it was around a grand, I think I'd do it in an instant.

so im finishing all the paint work tonight as far as doing the flat black on the hood and spoiler.....ill be posting more pics tonight after it is finished and more pics on saturday of everything out side
