wbody store full-size intercooler with 42.5's = what size pulley?

As of now I have your standard 3.4 setup (see sig). This summer I have plans to install a wbody store full-size IC, 42.5 injectors, and a N* throttle body. I am also going to run a ported gen 3/LIM. With these mods would I be able to safely run a 3.0 pulley? I have an Overkill PCM, which I intend to mail back for a re-tune. Looking to make at least 250whp. :th_thumb-up: or :th_thumb-down:??
 


the best way to go from me learning is get a scan guage and scan your car to see how much knock your gettin with a 3.4 if no knock than go down to a 3.3 if still no knock go one size down until u get a little bit of knock and either stay there or go one size up. most importantly u need a tune after runnin the i/c and other things becuase when u run the 3.0 u need better injectors and most likely a better fuel pump.

you WILL need an in-car tune.

If your car is in good shape you should be looking at closer to 280 WHP with a proper tune.
 
because unless he re-does it a few times with logs that you send him then it won't be specific enough to your car to run the best it could.
 
An overkill tune is the mid point between an off the shelf tune, and an in-car tune.

With that level of modification, you'll need to be tuning it specifically for the car, to get the most potential.

An overkill retune would be a good starting point if you dont have a tuner immediatley available.
 


If I drop to only a 3.2, could I retain my stock injectors? However, wouldn't running a 3.2 with a full size IC be almost the same power wise as my current 3.4 setup? I feel like I should be at a 3.1 or 3.0 with an IC.
 
Umm...running a 3.2 with an intercooler is going to net way more power than an non intercooled 3.4....that's just weird logic...

around a 3.1pulley is when you'll be running the stock injectors static...So plan on upgraded injectors going sub 3.2..

IF you wanna run a 3.0, get larger injectors, and a custom tune, not an overkill tune.
 
all cars are differant, ie 2 cars with identical mods and mileage one on a 3.4 with no knock, and another car same everything might see knock. a 3.2 with more timing will make more power then a car with less timing on 3.0
 
Why would I need an in-car tune? An overkill tune is not an off the shelf tune.

any pcm you order by mail is an off shelf tune

best idea for you would be to get a tuner or someone that know how to tune a 3800

btw you can hit 250whp without intercooler

i did it on 1.9 rockers, G5, N*, headers and it was on a mustang dyno, dynojet would have been a little more
 
cool enough day with the right tune might get you in the 300whp zone with a 3.1.... but when you start getting into IC a great investment would be some way to scan...
