Water Pump Installation Question

For those who installed a water pump, did you use a paper or rubber gasket? RTV or No?

i think mine was a rubber gaskets and i rtv'ed the piss out of it and the bolts.

no leaks.

Cool, I installed mine after cam swap... and when I cranked it up...it leaked. I used a gm gasket, but no RTV. I plan to RTV it.. however some tell me not to do that..incase RTV gets in the cooling system.

dont soak it and throw it on, when exposed to oxygen it won't dry for a long time. And use the better blue rtv in the silver tube. If you put it on (just keep it out of the water passages) and let it set on the pump loose for a few minutes, then slap it on and wait an hour or so after tightening it to adding coolant you'll be fine
