Water pump bolts.

Just quick Q, If the water pump is missing a bolt will coolant come out of that port? I have a huge coolant leak. I thought it was a bad hose or even the water pump. But, further into it I saw last night wile putting water through the radiator, water was coming out on the right side of the water pump, like you turned the faucet on 1/4 of the way. I cut a hanger and tried to feel any threads t see if there was a bolt that had to go in there, or even a freeze plug.

Any suggestions.

The hole you might see may be one of the alignment dowels.

You may need to take a picture where it is coming out at.

Ok, give me a few minutes to post it. It wont be a great picture because it is in a tight area. But the hole is detailed. You can clearly see the hose on the right of the picture. Any idea what that hole is?

Here ya go

yes thats a timing cover bolt you musta removed by accident it goes streight into the cyl 1 water jacket
put rtv or sealant on the threads and put it back in
they are 5/16ths coarse thread about 2" uhl

5/16ths coarse thread about 1 1/2"-2" UHL iirc

only the acc bosses are metric threads everything else is SAE just like the original buick v8's and v6's

Nuh, I didnt pull it out, a dude that worked on it with me hd to keep it for a while I headed back to colorado....He may have forgotten the bolt

off the the parts store i go .

Thank you!

i just measured it and the cover is just over an inch right there so youll need a 1.5" under head length, try to find a flanged head bolt and dont forget the RTV on the threads

Thanks man, I appreciate it.

1 ore rookie question I should know. But Autolite 104s

mods, SLP Headers and exhaust, MSP CAI, 3.5 or 3.6" pully. L36 block
