Water/Meth: Snow Performance vs. Devils Own

Hey guys!

So this is my first post on GPF and i have been doing quite a bit of research on running a water/meth system to my GTP. I'm in love with the price range with the w/m systems vs. the IC systems out there. For now i have pretty much made up my mind and am going to order a w/m system but I'm not quite sure which one I want. I would appreciate all of your input on the topic because the more knowledge I can obtain about w/m, the better.

I know of a few people that use the Snow Performance systems and love them. The one for the GTP's uses the the MAF frequency to control the flow. It comes with a tank that's about a gallon big. It is $450.00 for the system and comes with the complete system.

The Devilsown controller doesent really explain how it works but I'm going to assume that it kind of does the same thing. I do not believe it comes with a tank so i figure they want me to use my wiper fluid res.

same thing, different company. for real.

i would go with devil's own, since they basically own this site and i liked the kit that i had on my car. never had personal experience with snow.

the devils own controller watches your MAP, and you set the dials to turn on at a certain boost and full on at another boost level. then it makes a linear progression from one to the other. i had mine set to turn on at 7 psi and peak at 11-12 psi.

i used my own tank, so i didnt deal with any of that stuff.
 
okay, i have my 3.8 pulley on right now and have a zzp 3.4 mps ready to go on but your'e saying i can adjust the controller to start injecting at a certain boost level and peak at 7-8 lbs if i want, then when i put the pulley on i can adjust the controller to my new boost settings?

second thing, i don't drive my car pretty hard unless when im just driving around, im only on it if running someone or whatever but if i use a gallon tank how long is that going to last me?
 
yes, that's right. however, maybe you want it spraying 100% at 8-9psi still. depends if you need it there or not based on your tune and detonation.

i had a half gallon tank and it would last me a little over a month. i beat my car a lot and ran 100% meth.

Do you have a tuner?

I ran the Devils Own and it worked fine but these roots blowers dont run well with allky injection unless you are a really good tuner.
It killed my KR but also my timing. It would bog all the time and my top end was horrible.

I took it off and put on a intercooler and never looked back.
 


Yeah i dont have a tuner yet but i plan on having it tuned after the pulley. I want to run an ic after the meth at some point. So the Devilsown is pretty user friendly?
 
its probably best if you figure out a good way to fog the lower intake manifold, rather than run it through the blower.

and i would assume both systems are pretty user friendly, ive only used the devils own kit.
 
Bio that's what I was thinking, I was also thinking has anyone ever seen if spraying into the blower what effect it has on the needle bearings after a period of time? Just thinking out loud.
 
i sprayed through the blower forever, no effect on anything.

however, spraying post blower is going to be more effective. i plan on mocking something up for the 'next' setup down the line.
 
Ill have to take it apart this weekend and let you guys know if i see any spots. I was originally thinking on the blower right past the tb. Where have you guys sprayed in the past?

That how most are sprayed. My nozzle was on the TB spacers.

Gibson was going to have dual nozzle tapped into the LIM but I dont think he ever got around to installing it.

I think a dual nozzle into the LIM would be a good setup, and the way I would go if doing it. But it depends more on long term goals and how well you can get the setup dialed in IMO
 
three nozzles. one in each of the recesses between the cylinders that have gaps between them. or if youre really creative you can potentially hit all six runners with a smaller nozzle in each.

i tapped my blower case when i was spraying, so basically between the throttle body and the blower.
 


I have the AEM kit, when I was supercharged, I sprayed the blower for 2 years, never had an issue, rotors were still coated, bearings were fine. I'm now turbo and still run the AEM, pretty user friendly, reads boost and sprays by a dial. Nozzle comes with a built in check valve which is great, plus the pump is huge and sprays like a fire hose, I've always ran 100% meth
 
So AEM has a setup for the GP's too or is it just universal?

Second, I understand why straight meth is better because the evaporation rate is much faster then water/meth, but why do most people run 50/50? Because of the cost or what?
 
most people run 50/50 because it's safer and water has a good cooling effect as well. some of the pumps they sell with the kits arent rated for 100% meth either and it'll end up eating the seals and ruining the pump, something you should look for.

hell, before i had meth i ran straight water for a tank. didnt do much, but i did it.
