Water in floorboard (Take 2) - The Permanent Fix

Just finished doing this. Really simple and took all of 10 minutes to solve this issue! Loved the parts guy asking "Where'd you find this part number?"

My only problem is that when removing, I lost the far right cowl as it flew into the dark and likely in the neighbors yard. Can I pick one up at a parts store?

thought id post pics of my ghetto cowl repair.

you can see the shield is torn, thats why it leaks.

and this how the just a bag has been tucked in the lip. this has worked for over 2 years. had the cowl off today to run a amp power line.

you know what? its worked for 2 plus years, why mess with it. i got bigger fish to fry with this car then a cowl deflector.

this is one way to fix it tho. without it costing a dime.

whats quite inventive of me i must say is, that i fixed this way before i ever saw this thread, i just took it apart and looked for the problem, then tried to solve it, and here were are over 2 years later, it still works.

i did hose test it before i called it good to go. it passed.

a wet floor will make you look, then found rain running down from the fan, something had to be done....

do they make one of these for my 91? cuz i keep getting water on my passanger floor from the cowl.

if i were you, i'd take the cowl apart and see whats going on with it. it may have a ripped diverter like i posted on this page. if so its repairable with a little creativeness.

I'm all for saving a buck. But if it takes you an hour or two to figure out how to fix it, isn't your time worth more than the $8 it takes to just go order the part? You're going to have to take everything apart anyway. It's off. You put the new cowl on. You put everything back in place. DONE. No testing with a hose to see if it still leaks, then ripping it apart to see why or where.

Just my 2 cents.

you missed the part where he drives a 1991 GP. and taking the cowl off takes 10 minutes tops, any longer your doing it wrong.

for his year there may be no dealer part to fix it like the newer 97-03 so taking it apart then see if you can figure out why its leaking, then address it maybe his only option.

I have had it off and made sure the drain was cleared. Nothing was torn... Blower motors shot and locked up and theres currently a frozen puddle in my passanger floor board. Cars parked for the winter so its no big deal for passangers except the fact the floor may mold up and ruin it... I guess I will pull it apart and see if I cant make my own part for it using sheet metal or something if they don't have one. I wonder if just due to age gaps formed and thats whats causing the leaking... I mean the car does have 235k miles lol.

I MENT GO TO PAGE ONE WITH THE PICTURES ON IT .MAYBE (ABRASIVE ) STILL ON LINE HE SENT THE PICTURES MAYBE HE HAS ANSWER FOR IT .JUST A GUEST.:th_lightbulb::th_lightbulb::th_lightbulb::th_lightbulb::th_lightbulb::th_lightbulb::th_lightbulb:I HAVE 2004 GP .MAYBE SET UP NOT THE SAME OR MICKY MOUSE IT WORKS SOME TIME .LIKE (SCOTTYDOGGS)IT WORKS

I wanted to personally thank Abrasive for the how to and part numbers. I have hopefully fixed the issue now. Testing with buckets and the water hose looked good. We'll see after a real heavy rain.
