Water in floorboard (Take 2) - The Permanent Fix

When the washer hose clip on the cowl snapped off in my hand, I thought I was dealing with a very rigid piece of plastic, so I figured I had to take the entire cowl off to make sure it wouldn't break in the cold too. So the wiper arms had to be removed, and it was off the chart tough to even get them to budge. Still looking for an easier way to get them off. Maybe temporarily disable the arm spring and then pull? Might work...
 


meh, I don't see the whole thing snapping in half, just gotta fit your hand under there more or less. 01+ is nice because it's in two pieces.

a small 2 jaw puller works best. a claw hammer also works or a pry bar. just watch you dont crack the windshield.

So, as I understand from skimming a few pages this is for the passenger side. I discovered the drivers side floor to be very wet when I was unplugging the relay box thing. Any suggestions or maybe a link to the right thread?

that sounds like the heater core is leaking. see if it smells sweet, or if your coolant is low in the rad.

you can also pull the carpet up and try to trace the leak.
 


the heater core is dead center of the dash (in front of the console ) and can leak from either side to the floor and soak the carpet.
 
id run a hose over the car, start low, like the wiper cowl, the worj higher up the windshield then to the roof.


windshield's have been know to rust out around the frame and leak.
 
I give that that try, thank you. Has there been a known issue about the weather stripping around the door? I doubt thats where the leak is coming from but I figured I could ask.
 
I found the leak. I took a picture but I can't figure out how to upload it with my phone. It's coming in right by the mirror. There is a small indentation in the door and I think its getting in there. I'm going to get a new door seal and see if that fixes it.
 


Hey all...new to the forum as well as a 2004 GT2. Definitely have this water issue. Went through the car wash and ended up with a floorboard full of water. I need to know if the GM part 15794785 mentioned at the beginning of this thread will fit on the 2004 Grand Prix. Thanks.
 
Did a little digging. Part #15794785 is designed for:

06-07 Monte Carlo
04-08 Grand Prix

It will also fit:
97-03 Grand Prix
00-05 Monte Carlo

May fit others, but there is no info to confirm.
 


Well ended up getting this from a local dealer who had it in stock. Cost was a whopping $4.69 including tax...lol. Took virtually no time to install in my 2004 GP. Thanks for the write up.
