• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

From now on, whenever you see a bad ass car, that sh*t aignt ballin, sex, tits, race, or hella flush......it's mother f*ckin STANCE.

WTF is "Stance"? I come from a family that has always been into high-performance vehicles, and I've never heard that term before. I always thought the point was to increase the amount of power getting to the wheels, and I've done plenty of suspension performance upgrades, but I've never been a fan of cars so low that speedbumps cause paint damage.

I guess I'm just a little too "old school".

That's what I was thinking. I guess I'm an idiot for thinking it doesn't get much better than a stock ride height that handles like it's on rails. . .

I don't like imports though either, so I can understand why I don't necessarily "get it."

This is my "Performance Car":

YouTube - 1970 Monte Carlo 454

All Hotchkis suspension, still looking for a decent set of shocks, but with 650+hp, it's hard to make a heavy car like this one handle as well as I'd like.

Plus, at only 2mpg, it's hard to rationalize driving it instead of the Camaro. lol

normally this means that youre putting on wheels that are way too low off offet, stretching tires, and running some gratuitous amount of camber to do it. now, there are people that do it well, and people that do it 100% for the look of having the lip of the wheel tucked right up next to the fenders. it normally includes using expensive parts not how they were intended to be used.

i admit that i love it when it is done right, but ive never been a fan of overly stretched tires. if you think about it, stretched tires do have a place in the performance world. when you turn hard in a car with a bunch of sidewall, the tire needs to shift before they actually get traction. when you end up stretching it a little and putting a little force on the tire just sitting there, it increases responsiveness in turns.

also, going low helps with the center of gravity and the harsh spring rates and strut damping properties they run are also good for performance IN THE RIGHT SETTING. however, most in the 'stance' scene are using the high spring rates and damping to go lower, while being able to keep the car off the ground. it takes a lot of work to do it and i respect people that pull it off well. however, when done incorrectly it can end catastrophically for the car and/or the driver.

i am more into the low game than the stance game. i am not trying to run flush wheels, but love being able to tuck the tire into the fender for aesthetic purposes only. my car is slow, so i might as well make it look good, right?
