want to run GT2 cam on L36 topswap... input please

Ok I want to run a ZZP GT2 cam on my l36 bottom end and with my topswap...

there are a few reasons i want this...
1) I want good power outside of boost.
2) the GT2 cam doesnt require as many add ons as the XP
3) the sound of the GT2 cam makes me happy

i still plan on runing 105's so i can shift higher.

OK input time.

Do you want sound or power?

Once you get into smaller pulley's, you're into boost very quickly.

Both cams will require springs, retainers, new timing chain and tensioner.

Not sure whats so special about the XP?

Double rollers have a lifespan as well.

i figured from what i read on ZZP that a GT2 cam didnt require anything but recommended upgraded springs...

i would think a GT2 cam would be better then 1.9 rockers

i guess i just need to know where each cam makes power... i dont like the sound of the VS so that isnt an option... but i guess GT1, GT2, XP

Point Matt was trying to get across I think was this...

The GT1/GT2 Cams don't have THAT much lift...actually comparable to a VS in those terms. They also have a close lobe separation for a 3800 cam...which for N/A cars...is great since they don't have much to begin with and keeps them in the band...but for a boosted 3800, torque is a plentiful thing, hence why the XP has nearly stock LSA numbers...as the bigger the LSA, the wider the powerband is.

Hence the reason why people with the NIC cam run such small pullies...the LSA is super low and it bleeds boost of quite quickly, so you need to run more to begin with to help keep up with it.

FWIW, I ran the XP for over 40k...and it was a great cam...ran low 13's on just a 3.4"...compared to an N/A Cam though...it's meh at best...its like comparing apples to oranges...if you want to compare cams...go at it like this...

1.95 Rollers vs. VS
S1X vs. XP
IS3 vs. XPZ
TEP vs. IS4

Some numbers for you...

Stock: .411/.408 @ 115*
1.95 RR: .501/.497 @ 115
1.9's: .488/484 @ 115
VS: .512/.507 @ 115*
XP: .520/.536 @ 116*
S1X: .514./.526 @ 115*
TEP: .584/.576 @ 114*

I know you know. You know how I know you know? You know how I know you know, ya know? Tanks fer dat der list of specs...still have them saved in a sticky not on my desktop lol.

lift isn't everything....

duration and the shape of the lobes and the timing of them all play a significant role in how they run.

Also, VS >>>>>>>>>>> rollers.

Rollers add power up top, VS is all over.

Ooops...wrong list...i had another list where I added all the duration specs in...ill have to redo that one...ill repost it later.
