anyone have luck with vogtland springs, i know you need a spring compressor to install, i have 245 45 17, so i know ill have to roll fenders, but im not looking to replace struts, they were replaced 25k miles ago, and my friend put b and g on his car and has had them on for 20k miles and hasnt had to replace stock struts yet. planning on going with shortened dog bones though.
 


you think vogtlands are low enough? heard anything bad/good about them. the owner before me had subs in the truck, so he actually installed springs to make the rear higher then normal.
 
I have them but i have struts which apparently raise the car.

So my car went up about a quarter of an inch.

Which isn't bad considering I was having ground clearance issues.

You could probably get around on intrax springs to be honest.

you'd just have to be careful and make sure your exhaust is tucked well.

Look how low daves car is and he still gets around.
 
i dont think vogtlands drop enough for me to justify buying them.

i am definitely a fan of eibach/B&G, but would most likely go intrax if i did it again.
 


intrax slam our cars though, and id go through struts quick and need shortened dogbones. what inbetween intrax and vogtlands? because i do want a significant drop.

You actually don't need a spring compressor to install Vogtlands. You will need one to take your old springs off your struts if you are going to reuse them, but the Vogtlands only need to be compressed a little bit to get the nut started and you can do that with your hands. I did mine that way.

I run 245/45/18 on mine and don't need to roll my fenders. Unless you have an offset that is sticking your wheels out quite a bit, rubbing should not be a problem.
 
after reading all the things that can go wrong with this, i really dont wanna do this...but i think eventually i will get some 1.25 inch drop springs...either that, or the highest you can get, because i just wanna put them in and not worry about it really...might get shortened dogbones, even with only a .8 or 1.25 inch drop
 


I been looking into lowering my car now i want a 1.5 or 2 inch drop what is the biggest tire I can run and most recommened. I do know i will need shorter dogbones trans mounts done. How easy of an install for springs and struts

IF you do it right, and your existing suspension pieces are okay, then it's not that big of a deal.

All the problems I thought lowering springs had caused were actually things that were previously broke or wore out that the lowering springs just brought to my attention. This includes one pass. side halfshaft, then the drivers side. I also had broke my swaybar and thought the struts were wore out...after replacing those pieces, I'm pretty happy with how they are even on stock 120k struts.

Shortened dogbones didn't do **** for me. It's a crappy solution to the problem anyway.

run the same overall diameter as stock. you're probably not going to be able to run much wider than a 255 wide tire due to the stock fenders and you having to modify them if you go much more aggressive on being lower and running wider/lower offset wheels.

feel free to look in the wheels/tires section to get a couple more hints on what is and is not a good idea to attempt running.
