The one I dealt with years ago when I lived in Savanna was J & S on the south side of town right across from Poopy's. I believe you'd get a good deal there. Why would you trust a shop in Chicago more than local? If something looked wrong when you got home and different wheels on, you would have to drive all the way back there. I'd rather drive 45 minutes to get something fixed. But give J & S a call or go down and see them.
 
Yeah when I do upgrade to new shoes I plan on taking it quite easy. So you've seen 20x8.5s on without fender or side wall work?

never seen 20's but with an appropriate tire size so the overall hight is the same as stock, i dont see why a bigger wheel would be an issue. i do get a slight rub if i hit a pothole hard enough but it takes a lot. i also noticed that with my buddies GXP that when the rear squats down hard (lots of weight in the trunk) that the wheels tend to camber in so i dont think that you would have issues with rubbing especially if you could keep the offset around 45mm. my 38mm offset has a good inch of clearance to the strut so there is room to tuck them in a bit more or go to a 9 inch wheel. i can run up to 265 rubber without an issue. with a 20 and the shorter sidewall on the tire probably only be able to run a 245 or 255 without issue on an 8.5 inch rim.
 
I really don't want to do it myself just for the sake that it gets done right by somebody who knows how to do it right the first time.

And I will give J&S a call. Like I said I haven't had body work done before and I'm really not sure who to trust with it. But I guess I'll have to start somewhere.
 
I won't be pushing my car too much at all. Just low and slow lol since I'm rolling my fenders, I should have more room for wider wheels and/or more offset right?
 


i live in milwaukee if you want me to roll your fenders. i have a roller and have probably done 20 cars.

rolling the fenders with a roller will naturally pull them a little bit and probably give you another inch of clearance.
 
I would feel bad if you hooked it up for a brother and paint chipped soon after. If you say I can trust a brother I'm down for the hour drive. Do you have pictures you could send me of your fender work?
 
The reason why I want a shop over myself is that I need somebody to stand by there work incase anything goes wrong like paint. I would obviously expect something done about it.
 
i don't make guarantees on paint. your car is old and it's almost a certainty that the paint will crack. i do my best to avoid it, but it's hard on cars with older paint that have super thick fenders (need more force to roll them).

i also don't charge $50+ per corner like a shop will. i usually work for beer.
 


Have you done fenders on an 04 grand prix? I really appreciate your offering man I will pay you in one way or another when if we happen to follow through with it
 
i haven't done any 04+, but i've done a few 97-03. the only difference between cars ends up being how low the car is (the roller doesn't work well with really low cars) and what we do to the fender liners to make them work after we roll away the mounting points.

just let me know if you want me to make it happen. i have a pretty decent method fleshed out from doing a bunch of cars, but i can't ever claim to be a body shop and have perfect results.
 
I hear Easton makes some pretty nice fender rollers. Seriously though, I'd sooner let someone else do it than do it myself. I'd be sure to mess something up.
