So right now I have a grand prix gt. I love it and everything but I think it would be cheaper for me to just get a different car and mod it. Opitions..
1. Top swap the gt and so on spend probaly 2 grand on all mods for it.but still not that fast..
2.get a trans am ws6 which goes pretty fast as it is but kind of sucks gas and kinda hard to find one that isin good shape.
3.get a 4 banger like a eclipse or some other but more than likely that and put around 2 grand into it make it faster
4. 3000gt and same mod it

So which one do you think I could get going probaly around 4 sec 0-60 and 11-12sec 1/4 mile the easiest for least amount of money?
 


From those options I'd personally go WS6. You will hate the DSM stuff from what I've read/seen. Haven't personally modded one so it's just hearsay.

WS6 could get there with headers/gears/cam/TC/tune IIRC.

Question is, is this going to be a DD? Track only? If a DD then you have to consider the weather as well. Not sure I'd be driving around in my WS6 in a bunch of snow. Also, insurance costs, parts costs/availability, etc..
 
WS6s are overpriced, go with a trans am model or z28. Its the same damn thing. MPGs will not be any worse really then your gp.

plus a 10sec fbody can be very streetable :)
 
Yeah it will be a daily driver and I just wAnt the cheapest for the money and reliable. How much would it cost to get my gp get going that fast?
 
How much money would I have to put into the trans am to get going that fast? And any other good cars to mod?
 


I'd pick a trans am if it was me. Do you prefer auto or manual? You can break into the high 11's in a full bolt on, stalled auto trans am with some sticky tires and a little bit of weight reduction. Manual would be nice too but the 10 bolt rear ends tend to not hold up if you abuse them to much.
 
better question is... fast 0-60 or fast 60-130?

First one? Get a supercharged 3800 fiero.. 0-60 NOTHING beats that car in town... I had an absolute blast with my stock one ripping up STI's and Evos in town from a stop. My turbo honda is my little get around town, then rip on the highway 60-120 car... Thing does amazing when you get it in 3rd gear, and its a manual trans = fun! (oh, it gets almost 50mpg). Both of these cars could be had for about what a nice 99gt costs.

lol fieros. i remember i wanted one because cheap and easy to make fast with a swap, but still ugly as all hell.

OP. get a ws6. the awesomeness doesnt end, it has a great powerband, eye candy, RWD, manual or auto trans, and hell it even gets 30 mpg highway. infinitely more potential than any GP.
and yeah, you dont want a stupid DSM.
 
Alright thanks guy I would love a manual ws6 for under 6k? That possible and will it raise my insurance?

Anything's possible if you look hard enough. Scan Craigslist, Auto Trader, etc... And as far as the insurance, call your insurance company and ask them what full coverage would be on one, just hypothetically, and see what they say. A lot of factors can make/break a good rate i.e- accident history, prev. claims, credit score, multicar discount, student, etc...
 
Civic, swap in a B16/B18, turbo... Done

great dd, cheap and easy to work on, and your insurance won't go up. Just don't rice it out.
 
It's been a while since I looked at TA's and z28's, but in our area you can usually find them from 5-8k. Ws6's can go for quite a bit more, people think they are made of gold.
 
yeah the least i found was like 10k.. but now im lookin at a 05-06 Gto those are nice but id have to save some money up for that one.. but i could keep it for longer i think not sure its a hard decsion.. which one would be the best to mod? but some id in my school said you can make those 4cyl eclipses go really fast for cheap by just putting a turbo and a cold air intake maybe a few other things. but pushin towards TA or GTO
