what would i have to do to my heads to run a vs cam with 1.8rr??

i know most would say take the 1.8s out and get a bigger cam, but well i like the power curve of the vs and im one to work with what you got. plus i think it would be a pretty cool set up.

stock cam lift is 400/408.
1.8s yeild 450/459.
vs cam 512/507 with 1.6.

another question is what would my lift be??

any takers on this???

Um, yeah, you'd need head work.

the VS cam is .320/.317, multiply those by 1.8 and you get .576/.571. I think the limit with stock heads is something like .560, and that's with manley retainers and viton seals. You would need head work and springs that could support that kind of lift, and in reality, that much flow would need some head porting to really work like it should.

well what if i had a set of heads laying around. my question is, what would need to be done for this to work?? im not that experenced with heads and was wondering what exactly would have to be done.

Know what you're getting into, you're talking about more lift than the XPZ, somewhere between the Intense Stage 3 and 4 cam. Hell, it's more lift than the Thrasher Race Cam, although the duration should less than any of those. Add in the aggressive ramp rates of the VS, and that setup is going to be a ***** to control, the Comp/Crow 130s may not even be able to do it. Otherwise, you're going to need the valve guides milled down for clearance, and a pretty aggressive port job to really flow what that setup would need.

well ****. it sounded cool in my head....

nothing i was going to do anytime soon but i was just wondering what would be involved.

yea but then when i was thinking about i would have to get bigger valve springs that what i already have, probably a new timing chain, other crap i would have to get, i dont feel like :p

ill probably keep my set up, slap some meth on it, and be done with it.

if i wanna do that much to it ill probably just get an old fox body and rag the hell out of it :D

ehh porting them out and cleaning them up real good. ive ran mine hot a few times (coolent leak) and i just wanna be on the safe side. i still might do something one day but thats down the road.
