Vibration!!!!!

hello everyone,

I am having problems with my 05 grand prix vibrating...I can feel the vibration slightly on the steering wheel, but more on the foot pedals...I have gotten my tires balanced multiple times with no luck fixing the vibration. No body knows what it is and it's another irritating thing that I have to put up with. At high speeds (80) you can def feel it. mechanic says there are no bent rims, tires are in awesome condition, control arms are fine, and says that I have a busted outer tie rod. Also need back rotors/pads and pad/rotors cut in the front He says there is no play in the tie rod but the bushing is what I think he said is busted. He says it may make the car shake but not as much as i explained....WHAT the hell is it???? had the car 3 years...always vibrated but now it is very irritating!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bad CV shafts can cause vibrations...

Are to talking about bad sway bar bushings? Does not make sense that the tie rod is bad, but there is no play???
 
If you're that sure you don't have a tire or rim issue then I would next look at your front axles. If they're ok I'd then remove your brake rotors and remove the rust on the back sides of em as well as on the hub flanges. Something like a 36 grit abrasive disc works good. If you have rust there, it can cause the rotor to not sit on the same plane as the hub flange and cause a vibration. It's worth a try, especially if you're equipped to do it your self, for little money spent. You'd have to go faster than 80 for alignment to cause a vibration and bad front end parts usually pull tight once under load and usually stay there until the load changes (they don't usually vibrate back and forth).
 
I'm having the same problem with my MC. Got new tires back in June/July since the old tires where 6 or 7 years old and my car starting having vibrations since then. I have replace the front rotors and pads, got some greaseable tie rods. Had the car aligned and balanced several times, rotated the tires from front to back(no change vibration still occurs the same), checked for bent rims. i still have my original struts but i dont think those would cause vibration more of a bouncey feeling. The vibration occurs slightly when in park and idle then it gets gradually worse once you hit 35-40+mph and real noticeable at 60-70mph throughout the cabin.
 
I'm about to change my rotors and brake bads this week all the way around since I have to do it anyway...afterwards I will get a tire balance....I'll let you know if it works out
 


possibility that it could be your rear rotors, if your calipers are seized in the rear and the rotors are warped you could be feeling the vibration from that on the pedals. if vibration is still there when you get your tires balanced ask them specifically to do a load runout test on the tires (might have to go to a tire specialist place to get that donr, even though your tires are new they may not be simetrical. usually get that with cheep tires)
 
When goodyears are out of round they shave them.

You can be missing up to a couple thirty-seconds of tread on a brand new tire from this process.
