For those of you using clear coat, too - what brand works best and doesn't lift from the VHT base coat?

I used this stuff about 15-20 years ago on my '81 GP and always liked the look it produced.

What is the solvent for the VHT to remove it? If it gets too dark and someone wants to redo it or if they just don't like how it's turning out after they start? There's nothing on the can about it. Before I start, I would like to know about this.

Let me check later on tonight, i found a chemical that made life MUCH MUCH easier for getting it off. Citrus something I think...

The problem is once you start tinting them you've already sanded the lens

Thanks. I'll tint, regardless, so that's not a worry. My concern was if the surface wasn't prepped well and it lifted or something, or if I got it too dark and wanted to wipe it off and start over.

i screwed mine up at one point. didn't realize the clear coat had a vertical spray pattern and not just all around, well I ended up taking a stripe right out of the middle of the black. had to try sanding it off, didn't go well, so I used Diluted Citri-Clean which is an industrial cleaner/degreaser. Worked incredibly well, just a little bit of scrubbing and the black comes right off.
