Very good article on Domestic vs Import

Since you love imports, why do you not go buy imports only then? I honestly think your driving the wrong car. Go buy a Toyota, its perfect for guys like you that thinks its great to buy imports. Sell the Grand Prix to someone else dude.

You have the ass for domestic cars, lets face it. In several posts I see it, time and time again. Especially the last post between us. I'm sick of seeing you humping on import cars, it makes me sick.

Now go repeat what you say 10,000 times and make it ok to buy an import. I know you will since imports are your god...

I'm no fan of Toyota, Honda, etc, but when people keep making this a domestic vs import argument (like you are) it bothers me. More of a Toyota is made in the USA than my car or any of your cars. How is it still an import?

Shawn, you obviously have issues, so I will not debate this with you. You seem bent on taking this to some extreme it was never intended to be taken to.

However, if anyone else wishes to discuss this in a friendly, factual way, Im all ears.

yea more imports are made here. just near me i have a honda, transmission plant and then a parts plant. a kia plant that is HUGE. another honda plant in alabama, a mersadies bens plant. all with in about an hour of me.

i really dont see how there imports. i helped build alot of the honda transmissions. im amarican, i live in the U.S. and they were built in the U.S.

Some people feel the need to cling to black and white on issues. It's when things get gray that they get confused.

Im probably one of those that feel things are black and white, though 'cling' is not the word I would use, and I think the black and white perspective pertains to certain areas of life, but as you pointed out, some things do fall in a gray area and this well could be one of those.

The global community and economy has indeed blurred some lines that were once fairly clearly drawn. Is it a gray area that is going to end life as we know it? No. But it does make for a great conversation when you can keep things in perspective, it also affords us the opportunity to reflect on just how significantly things have changed over the years.

LOL Pontiac GTO is made in Australia. Its called a Holden...as well as the G8...lol The "G8" is said to be a "import from Australia". But anyways!! I found this..and for some reason when I think of Imports this ALWAYS goes threw my mind....I watched this on Pinks and died laughing..then found this. I hope you guys get a kick out of it.

Just like the last thread similar to this, it has nothing to do with the import manufactors having plants here. And import is an import. GM builds stuff all over the world, thats been established and beaten to death in that other thread. Look like this will be another thread were the same useless info will be posted over and over again.

Here are the facts you can't argue... GM=domestic, Toyota=import, Honda= import, Hyundai= import... those are the cold hard facts. Argue all you want about who has plants in a american and such, but there still imports. Thats the way it is. Go ahead and repeat the same **** we already know, but I listed the facts here. Sorry, theres only one on my short list thats a domestic.

Scotty, you have the ass for domestics. I've noticed it for months now on several threads. I'm amazed by someone who seems to dislike domestics so much even owns one. I really think you own the wrong kinda of car, but thats my personal opinion.

I'm not starting an argument. Just listing what i've noticed and listing some facts too.

How are those facts? If that toyota has more parts built in the US and is finally assembled in the US, how is it more of an import than a GM car whose parts are made in Mexico, China, and Japan and finally assembled in Canada? Because where its blue prints come from? What if those were designed right here in the US to? Where do you draw the line? Holding on to what brand was an import 25 years ago has nothing to do with things today.

Like I said before, I show no love for Toyotas, Hondas, etc, but you're not making a reasonable argument.

So, your facts seem more like your opinion unless you can back it up. Just because you don't want to listen to what can be proven all over the place doesn't mean those aren't facts.

IronIndian, what about Chrysler? Are the cars that were made during the period of "Daimler Chrysler" import or domestic?

yea i think your gonna have to come up with another word here because "what" is imported?? nothing is imported about forigne cars.

at the end of the day,the question is, where does the money go to??? with gm yea it is "american" but do i see any of those benifits?? does it help my community??? no but it helps mexicos and canadas. honda put money in my pocket, helped people in my community.

its as simple as that.

and hating on a car because it came from some where else??? how ignorent. it really shows how closed minded people are

And why just cars? What about home appliances, electronics, etc? Zenith was the last domestic TV maker, and they closed their last US plant in the late 80s/early 90s. Computers make be assembled here, but the bulk of the parts are made overseas as well.
