Vendor Heads

Im looking for opinions on Abbot Racing Heads never hear them talked about here or club gp, i seem to recall some good reviews on them on some of the f-body forums. ive basically decided between the abbot stage 3, intense stage 3, or the zzp aluminum. im not interested in porting myself. i dont really have any plans for the car, im not into racing it. it has air ride, twenty's, huge stereo, 8 rolls of dynamat so i dont care about track time, i just like to have nice stuff on my car. right now have zzp headers, s2 intercooler, xp, wizair, 3.4, gen v, intense shif kit, hp tuners. ive read some bad things about intense valve guides (maybe thats been resolved), dont really wanna give zzp another $2000+, so the abbots intrigue me...I'm also kickin around the idea of doing an l26 and custom cam when i do the head swap. thanks for the ideas.

If you check out fullthrottlev6 Abbot is a sponsor over there. I really haven't heard any complaints about them, they always get good reviews and the V6 f-body guys love them.

Just another option man...I know you sya that you dont want to DIY your heads but was looking into buying Intense Racing heads...but after reading the DIY Head threads on Club GP I really got to thinking that $800-$1,000+ part jut got cut down to about $20-$30 for bits on the 'ol dremel. I know for sure that they wont be perfect or CNC'd...but...for hte money that I save I can buy a intercooler or something...or pay off some bills. I looks a lot harder then it really is IMO. I started on mine last night after puttig it off for a month debating what to really do...and I'll say...as long as you have the right tools it is possible. Plus you get to learn how to do that kind of stuff...and it is good to know for future refernce incase someone wants it done...you can have them pay ya to do it...I got someone lined up for me to do their heads of they are pleased with the outcome of mine...so...he is saving over $500 too ;)

buy a set of stock heads and take them to an engine builder. youll get a better set of heads for about 1/3 of the price.

If you dont have any plans for the car and not into racing it then why even toy with the idea of heads? Either way youre looking at spending a ton of doe for nothing. But if youre set on it get some junkyard heads and go to a machine shop like stated above.

There are actually porting kits you can buy on ebay that contain some stuff you need to port heads. A dremel is gonna be nothing but a waste of time, it doesnt have the power or reach, especially on steel heads. If you are going turbo, you might as well forget porting the heads anyways as its not necessary. You can smooth the runners and combustion chamber though would be a good thing to do.
