valve cover issues

I've got an 04 GTP with leaky valve covers. After finally getting them off, I find that both have cracks and broken chunks of plastic along where the gasket rides. Is anyone else having issuses with crappy plastic covers or know if GM is doing a recall on it? I mean, the plastic is literally PAPER THIN!! :th_angry2: BOO GM :th_thumb-down:

I don't think there was a recall. In 2005 I think the 3800 received an update that used a stronger plastic.

yeah, i dont know why they did plastic in the first place... good od aluminum or steel valve covers woud have been alot better

does anyone know if this cracking on the inside edge is ok? the ones I ordered from the dealer came the same way (just not as bad)...
