I just bought a 1998 GTP with 135,000 miles on it, I believe the tranny is on its way out and I am not happy 
I was experiencing what I thought was a harsh shift, thought it could be the PCS so had it scanned both at autozone and a tranny shop, no codes. I checked the fluid it's brown and doesn't smell too good. I went against by better judgement and had it flushed by the idiots at Valvoline with no change in shift behavior. Fluid still looked like poo.
So here's what it's doing, it seems like it's skipping third gear. It'll shift to second between 15-20 mph, and then no shift until about 40-45 mph, I guess that would be 4th gear or OD? Sometimes it'll shift hard at around the speed but not always. It consistently skips third gear though. I am also getting a buzzing noise from the tranny depending on RPM speed, especially when it's supposed to be shifting into 3rd.
Valvoline claimed that the flush should clean out the filter, but I have a hard time believing that. Does anyone think if I change the filter that it might solve my problem or atleast buy me some time? How bout Lucas or other additives?
With all that said I was wondering if anyone could reccomend a good resource for finding good cheap used trannies for this thing. Don't have a lot of money since I am unemployed ATM, and don't have the money for a rebuild. Anyone here sell used parts? Thanks in advance
