Used DHP PCM question

I have a 98 GTP and was wondering if I can just get a used DHP PCM from a different gtp and plug it in and it will work fine? I had heard that they needed the vin programmed into them or something along those lines. If it has a different vin programmed in it, can I just plug and play?
