I have a 04 gtp 3800 supercharged and I'm losing coolant and running hot. I had the intake manifold gasket changed and it's still losing coolant. My question may be stupid but I'm gonna ask it anyway, the upper intake and lower intake manifold gaskets ,can you change one without changing the other??? Also any other probable causes and fixes will be greatly appreciated,. I am stumped on what it could be. Are there any sensors that could go bad to make it run hot? And now the idiot lights say that the abs and traction control need servicing ?? I hope somebody can steer me to the right direction or a good starting point.

Upper intake gasket?

Yup we don't have one of those we have the Supercharger gasket and the lim gasket. Change both they're rather cheap and then change the coolant elbows to the aluminum ones and make sure your water pump isn't leaking. If you knock these thing out you shouldn't have any coolant leaking anymore. Without changing the SC gasket there's a chance that'll you'll be chasing a vacuum leak soon after do it the right way the first time.

You can check your waterpump by removing the belt and putting your hands on the pulley at like 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock and pulling on it if there's play then chances are your pumps bad and I would swap it out.

The abs/TC lights are easy to diagnose with the right scanner. Take it to I believe Oreileys can scan and code or go to a automotive shop and pay a little money to have them scan it and they should be able to tell you what the problem is without throwing parts at it. Call ahead and make sure they are able to scan abs codes for your vehicle before you pay them.
 
Definitely check coolant elbows and water pump.

ABS and TRAC might turn out to be a wheel bearing. Not a terrible job.
 
If you can't figure it out buy a pressure tester or have it tested. That way you can see the leak if it is external which most likely is.
 
Update on these problems. Oh by the way thanks for all the help so far.
Changed the supercharger gasket and o- rings and intake manifold gasket, put the aluminum tube in changed water pump, the oil looks good doesn't look like any coolant is getting into the oil. Where else could it go ? I am at my wits end on it . Oh yea new thermostat and gasket. Both fans seem to be working like they should. Could the radiator be stopped up or the ac coils cause anything . Need Help!!
 
you bled the air from the system too? if not it could take small amounts of coolant for a while till its full.

how the tranny feel? the fluid over filled?

if your not seeing coolant on the ground, then the only other place it can go is a cracked tranny cooler ( the tranny would be over filled from taking in coolant) or a blown head gasket. it would eat the coolant and burn it out the tail pipes. your exhaust would smell sweet and have a white fog like smoke out the tail pipes.

or a bad head gasket can also push the coolant out the over flow tank.

or the heater core is leaking inside the car, check for a wet carpet.
 


Tranny is fine no heater leak inside the car,but there is coolant coming out of the exhaust pipes. So most likely it's a head gasket . Could the radiator be cause any of this.
 
not likely.

you should do a compression test. if one cylinder is real low you found a bad head gasket.

not sure where you live, but cold weather this time of year will also cause water out the tail pipes when cold. its just condensation from the exhaust system. aka cold pipes. res, and mufflers.

Well let's see it's been 5 days since I've got my car back . Changed supercharger and lol gaskets ,water pump ,new thermostat the first day drove back to Savannah for work ran fine.Later that day ran to the store temp shot up ,sounds really rough when it starts ,soo I'm thinking new head gaskets and maybe new heads ???? Can anybody help . Oh flushed radiator new coolant the green stuff and some seafoam in gas tank.. Tell me the seafoam can go in the gas.
 
Did you ever pressure test it for leaks? Seafoam is fine in the gas, I would not use it in your oil/motor for cleaning.
 
I can't afford to change the heads or head gasket ,is there anything that I can put in it to stop the leak or cut down on the leak ??
 


you can try blue devil head gasket sealer. theres a lot of you tube vids saying it worked fine, then others say it killed there engines.


heres a quick head gaskets test, rad cap off and the rad full, rev the engine, watch the rad cap hole, if bubbles show in the rad hole, the head gasket is bad.
